NJIT Athletics Posts 33rd Consecutive Semester with Term GPA Above 3.0
NJIT Athletics posted its 33rd consecutive semester with a 3.0 GPA or higher, boasting a 3.446 department-wide GPA. All 19 of NJIT's programs earned a 3.0 or higher GPA this past spring with 66 individual student-athletes recording perfect 4.0 GPAs, 221 earning Dean's List honors, and 273 with a 3.0 term GPA or higher. Women's tennis had the highest spring term GPA at 3.742 and men's volleyball posted the highest men's GPA at 3.535. Eight teams earned a 3.5 GPA or higher this spring.

Stephen Kenney Appointed Interim CFO at NJIT
New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has appointed Stephen F. Kenney as interim senior vice president for finance and chief financial officer. Kenney brings more than 25 years of executive financial leadership experience in higher education, health care and international development. He is a certified public accountant, chartered global management accountant and an MBA graduate with a track record of transforming organizational finances through strategic planning, operational efficiency and team development.

NJIT Names Kelly Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations
Following a highly competitive national search, New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has announced the selection of Alan J. Kelly, CFRE, as the university’s next Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations. Kelly will join NJIT on July 14, 2025. NJIT sought an experienced leader who will direct efforts to further develop a strong culture of philanthropy that will support the university’s rapid ascent to prominence and the ambitious goals outlined in NJIT’s 2030 Strategic Plan.

Navid Heydarishahreza - ECE PhD Student of the Month - June 2025
Navid Heydarishahreza is a Ph.D. candidate in Electrical and Computer Engineering at NJIT, advised by Professor Nirwan Ansari. His research focuses on link quality optimization, interference management, and mobility management in integrated terrestrial and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite networks.

New Jersey Institute of Technology has been selected as one of the best schools with game design programs in the U.S., according to industry website Animation Career Review. NJIT’s game design program ranks No. 1 in New Jersey and top-25 in the East Coast. Animation Career Review’s ranking follows The Princeton Review’s game design accolade for NJIT.

Eight YWCC Research Projects Funded Through AI@NJIT Initiative
Seven faculty members in the Ying Wu College of Computing (YWCC) have received grant support to fund eight research projects as part of the Grace Hopper Artificial Intelligence Institute at NJIT (GHRI). The Institute was launched through a $6 million investment by an anonymous donor and matching funds in collaboration with the university’s $10 million AI@NJIT initiative.

"Raindrops in the Sun's Corona": New Adaptive Optics Shows Stunning Details of our Star's Atmosphere
The Sun’s corona—the outermost layer of its atmosphere, visible only during a total solar eclipse—has long intrigued scientists due to its extreme temperatures, violent eruptions, and large prominences. However, turbulence in the Earth’s atmosphere has caused image blur and hindered observations of the corona. A ground-breaking recent development by scientists from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) National Solar Observatory (NSO), and New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), is changing that by using adaptive optics to remove the blur.
