NJIT hosted its inaugural Nexus of Excellence Awards celebration, a new tradition that unites several long-standing ceremonies into a singular event highlighting exceptional contributions to the university community. NJIT Appoints Steve Saperstein '84 Chair of Foundation Board of Directors
New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), an R1 polytechnic university, is pleased to announce that alumnus Steven B. Saperstein ’84 will become the chair of the NJIT Foundation Board of Directors on January 1, 2025. The Foundation Board is responsible for stewarding the university’s endowment and supporting fundraising efforts. Also announced is the appointment of Michael Pages to chair of the Joint Investment Committee (JIC) of the NJIT Foundation.

Over 100 Albert Dorman Honors College (ADHC) scholars showcased their semester's research at the Honors Interdisciplinary Research Forum, featuring work from three foundational courses: Introduction to Research Writing, Introduction to Research Methods and — new for this semester — Introduction to Entrepreneurship.

A Pioneer in Brain Imaging Wins NJIT's 2024 Excellence in Research Award
Bharat Biswal, a pioneer in the field of neural imaging who developed a technique that sheds new light on brain-related diseases and injuries, is this year’s winner of NJIT’s Excellence in Research award. In the early 1990s, as scientists began mapping the brain with functional MRI (fMRI), Biswal proposed a radical new approach to imaging: observing all of the regional networks at once while the patient sat still for several minutes.

Newark Design Collaborative Fellows Lead NJIT Students in Showcasing Talent at Zine Fest
Students at NJIT’s Hillier College of Architecture and Design showcased their work in the Newark Zine Fest, organized by Petia Morozov, Newark Design Collaborative fellow and publisher of Dense Magazine, was held at the Newark Art Museum. Zines, short for "magazines" or "fanzines," are typically small-batch, self-published works that emphasize unique, personal or niche perspectives.

This Year NJIT Has the Most Governor's STEM Scholars at the College Level
Five of this year’s Governor’s STEM Scholars are from New Jersey Institute of Technology — the most from any college in the state and the university’s highest total in a single year. The Highlanders are among a select cohort of 16 college-level scholars and a larger pool of 111 that includes high school students interested in STEM. Each college scholar plays a leadership role, sharing expertise and offering guidance to a group of about a half-dozen high schoolers as they tackle global problems at a local level.

Internships, Fellowships and a Co-Op: How An NJIT Honors Scholar Applies Her STEM Skills
As a sophomore at New Jersey Institute of Technology, Krishi Shah has already accomplished a lot. Last summer, the computer science major helped engineer software as an intern at PULLATracker while conducting research at the NJIT’s Undergraduate Research and Innovation Program. She also began an apprenticeship at Cornell Tech that’s focused on artificial intelligence.

Top-Ranked University's Research Facilities Set to Nest at New Jersey Life Sciences Campus
The Northeast Science and Technology (NEST) Center today announced New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) as its first academic partner at the campus, marking a significant milestone in the creation of a life science, technology, and pharmaceutical research hub. The university plans to establish the NJIT @ NEST Center for Translational Research with the goal of expanding upon its track record of translating fundamental research into products and services that benefit humanity.

NJIT Alums from Computing, Engineering, Management Succeed at CGI
Alumni from NJIT are impressing Mike Reagan, who leads 250 people for the New York/New Jersey region of international technology consultancy CGI Inc., because the Highlanders among them stand out for backing up solid training with invaluable soft skills. “They have risen to be the cream of the crop,” said Reagan, senior vice president, who’s an electrical engineer and transitioned into management. “What I do not hire is someone with a resume of 4.0 and nothing else. Give me the 3.2 who was part of a couple of clubs, involved in student government and has a personality.”

Imagine the ability to leverage sensitive data with full-fledged compliance and security. Encryptech, a cloud computing service focused on handling sensitive data securely, was created by sophomore S-STEM scholar Jonathan Kozlik and his collaborator with a goal to make the training of regulatory-compliant AI models on sensitive data both affordable and scalable.

Zuniga Hits 1,000 Point Milestone, 13th Highlander in 1K Club
Junior Alejandra Zuniga scored her 1,000 career point in the fourth quarter on a driving layup but the Highlanders could not overcome a 13-point deficit as visiting Monmouth registered a 63-54 road victory Monday evening in women's basketball non-conference action inside the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center.
