Men's Tennis Earns Multiple ITA Northeast Regional Rankings

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has released its annual regional rankings last week, with the Highlanders receiving multiple team and individual honors.
NJIT was ranked fifth in the Northeast Region as a team, coming off a tremendous season with an 18-4 overall record and a second consecutive trip to the Southland Conference Championship Match. Pablo Perez Ramos and Nejc Skorjanc were ranked the eighth-best doubles tandem in the region, while Perez Ramos landed ninth on the regional list in singles play.
As a team, NJIT completed its second consecutive perfect record at home, winning all 10 of its matches inside the Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility. The Highlanders opened the season by winning eight straight matches, with the first seven wins each coming via 7-0 sweeps. The Highlanders landed inside the ITA weekly rankings twice during the season, peaking at No. 70 back on March 5. NJIT won six straight to wrap up its regular season and earned the No. 2 seed in the Southland Conference Tournament, where the Highlanders advanced to the championship for the second straight year.
Individually, Perez Ramos starred once again for NJIT. The native of Canary Island, Spain posted a 15-2 record in the top singles flight which helped him garner All-Southland Conference honors. Perez Ramos became the first player in program history to earn an ITA national singles ranking, sitting No. 119 on the list on April 22.
Perez Ramos teamed up with Skorjanc in No. 1 doubles to great success this past season, with the duo owning a 10-3 record on the season. Their performance throughout the season helped them earn All-Southland Conference Second Team honors in the top doubles flight.
