NJIT Alums from Computing, Engineering, Management Succeed at CGI
Alumni from NJIT are impressing Mike Reagan, who leads 250 people for the New York/New Jersey region of international technology consultancy CGI Inc., because the Highlanders among them stand out for backing up solid training with invaluable soft skills. “They have risen to be the cream of the crop,” said Reagan, senior vice president, who’s an electrical engineer and transitioned into management. “What I do not hire is someone with a resume of 4.0 and nothing else. Give me the 3.2 who was part of a couple of clubs, involved in student government and has a personality.”

YWCC Student Start Up Aims to Create an Avalanche of Untapped AI Potential
Imagine the ability to leverage sensitive data with full-fledged compliance and security. Encryptech, a cloud computing service focused on handling sensitive data securely, was created by sophomore S-STEM scholar Jonathan Kozlik and his collaborator with a goal to make the training of regulatory-compliant AI models on sensitive data both affordable and scalable.

Zuniga Hits 1,000 Point Milestone, 13th Highlander in 1K Club
Junior Alejandra Zuniga scored her 1,000 career point in the fourth quarter on a driving layup but the Highlanders could not overcome a 13-point deficit as visiting Monmouth registered a 63-54 road victory Monday evening in women's basketball non-conference action inside the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center.

Neel Adwani - ECE PhD Student of the Month - December 2024
Neel Adwani is a second-year Ph.D. student in the Helen and John C. Hartmann Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He works at the Controls Automation and Robotics Lab (CAR Lab), advised by Dr. Cong Wang. He is also a teaching assistant for the ECE Department, currently teaching ECE 294 Analog and Digital Circuits Lab. His current research is based on end-effector fabrication for robots using LLMs and VLMs, where his goal is to leverage models like GPT for designing and prototyping robot end-effectors for performing domestic services like cooking.

Robinson's Big Second Half Helps Highlanders Past Morehead State, 78-69
Sebastian Robinson scored 19 of his 21 points in the second half and Tariq Francis led the Highlanders with 23 points as the NJIT men's basketball team earned its first victory of the season over Morehead State, 78-69, on Wednesday night at the Cleveland State Thanksgiving Throwback.

How an Uncle Inspired 4 Family Members to Study Engineering at NJIT
The Femino family legacy at New Jersey Institute of Technology started with a child’s admiration for his engineer uncle. Growing up, Dr. Frank Femino ’85 looked forward to visits from his uncle, Peter Garippa ’51. Not only did Femino go on to become a Highlander himself — all three of his sons did as well. “He was my inspiration to study mechanical engineering and go to NJIT, and then it inspired my three sons to go. It really is a legacy of NJIT for us,” said Femino, an orthopedic surgeon who practices in Nutley, N.J.

6 Highlander Programs Record Perfect Graduation Success Rates, NJIT Athletics Excels in Latest NCAA GSR Release
Six Highlander programs recorded a perfect Graduation Success Rate (GSR) score in the NCAA's latest release. As a department, the Highlanders earned an overall GSR of 92%. The figures released Wednesday by the NCAA reflect graduation numbers among student-athletes who entered college in 2017. The overall single-cohort rate held steady at 91%, which is the highest rate recorded.

Market Study Sheds Light on How Inclusive Shopping Experiences Make All Consumers Feel Valued
Jorge Fresneda, associate professor at the Martin Tuchman School of Management at NJIT, has developed the Consumer Normalcy Scale (CNS), an innovative tool designed to assess how inclusive and dignified shopping experiences are for people from diverse backgrounds and with various characteristics. This scale captures the essence of “consumer normalcy,” and identifies whether each customer, regardless of characteristics like race, disability or gender, feels genuinely welcomed and respected in the retail environment.

Endle Sets 200 Breaststroke School Record on the Final Day of the BU Terrier Invitational
Borys Endle set a school record in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:58.46 to win the event on the final day of the BU Terrier Invitational on Sunday at the FitRec Competition Pool. His time in the 200 breaststroke is the fastest in the America East. Endle broke his second school record of the meet, setting the 400 IM program record on Saturday.
