NJIT Welcomes Latin American Consul Delegation to Strengthen Ties
New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) this week welcomed a delegation from Grupo Latinoamericano de Cónsules en New Jersey (GLACO) as well as city and state government leaders to explore the university and learn about its mission and initiatives, particularly in light of NJIT’s designation as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). The visit provided an opportunity for GLACO and government members to learn more about NJIT’s diverse programs, student enrollment, and commitment to supporting the Hispanic and Latine communities.

NJIT Opens New Center, Expands Opportunities for Undergrads in Entrepreneurship
The Center for Student Entrepreneurship, newly created at New Jersey Institute of Technology, will centralize and grow the university’s resources that expose students to the spirit and skills necessary to think in an innovative mindset. Other entrepreneurship resources at NJIT also welcome undergraduates, but until now these students have not had a center focused solely on them, explained Kathy Naasz, executive director of student entrepreneurship. She is also a research professor in NJIT’s Martin Tuchman School of Management.

NJIT Employees Selected for NACUBO Emerging Leaders Program
Employees in New Jersey Institute of Technology’s finance office were selected to join the Emerging Leaders program of a national organization for the third consecutive year. This year’s selections are Mohieb Mohsen, bursar in NJIT’s Office of Student Accounts, and Rob Dennis, contract administrator in NJIT’s Office of Procurement Services, both of whom will participate in the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) Emerging Leaders Program.

La primera semana del Mes Nacional de la Herencia Hispana estuvo llena de actividades en NJIT, ya que la universidad celebró tres eventos distintos para marcar el inicio de un mes lleno de celebraciones. El comienzo incluyó una animada fiesta para conmemorar su designación como institución al servicio de los hispanos (con siglas en inglés HSI), el Consejo de Liderazgo Hispano y Latinx (con siglas en inglés HLLC) celebró y otorgó becas a dos estudiantes sobresalientes, y también se celebró un evento festivo para inaugurar el Mes de la Herencia Hispana y Latina.

Zhenlu Qin - ECE PhD Student of the Month - October 2024
Zhenlu Qin joined the Department of Computer Science at Auburn University at Montgomery as an Assistant Professor in August 2024 after obtaining his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from NJIT in May 2024. He started his Ph.D. study in 2018 and was advised by Dr. Qing Liu. His research focuses on high-performance computing (HPC), data compression and reduction, and I/O performance.

Research from New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) addresses a critical issue in AI-powered code generation: the prevalence of security vulnerabilities. Ph.D. student Khiem Ton and his colleagues have developed SGCode, a system that combines advanced AI techniques with security analysis tools to detect and fix potential security flaws as code is being created.
