PhD Graduate Jorge Alberto Medina's Passion for Electronics Started in his Native Honduras
Jorge Alberto Medina '23 grew up with electronics. He recalls watching his dad disassemble and rebuild electronic equipment, and leafed through stacks of monthly electronics magazines as his light reading material. The exposure grew into a passion, and Medina set his sights on a journey that ultimately brought him to NJIT.

Women's Tennis Wins Tenth Straight With Senior Day Victory Over Temple
The wins just keep on coming. The NJIT women's tennis team won its tenth consecutive match and honored its seniors with a hard-fought 4-3 win over the Temple Owls Friday evening at the Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility. The Highlanders now have their second-ever double-digit Division I win streak, second behind the program record 14 win streak during the 2011-12 season that saw NJIT repeat as Great West Conference Tournament champions.

At NJIT, TV Trailblazer Tells Women to Assert Themselves and 'Be the Change'
Dolores Morris’ road to a career in television production was circuitous but ultimately fruitful and rewarding — from Children’s Television Workshop to ABC to Disney to HBO. It didn’t come easily, however. Morris, speaking at New Jersey Institute of Technology on International Women’s Day, explained that at times she was among few women in the room and the only person of color. Still, she found the strength to assert herself, perhaps remembering the words of her father: “You can be whatever you want to be.”

Men's Lacrosse Trounces Lindenwood 18-5, Moves To 7-0
#RollTech rolls on. The NJIT men's lacrosse team moved to 7-0 on the year with a 18-5 win over the Lindenwood Lions Saturday afternoon at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium. In a year of growth, firsts and new heights, the tenth-year program locked in another with today's victory — with half the season left, NJIT will not finish a season with a losing record for the first time ever. Artificial intelligence shows tremendous potential in forecasting, be it in identifying a vulnerable power line via a drone photo or analyzing body camera footage to flag a police officer who may be at risk for using excessive force, according to Michael Johnson, president of the New Jersey Innovation Institute, an NJIT corporation that accelerates innovation.

NJIT Recognizes United Services, Inc.'s Commitment to University with Naming of Fitness Center
NJIT hosted a program and reception to celebrate the naming of the United Services, Inc. Fitness Center in the Joel & Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center (WEC). United Services, Inc. (USI) pledged $1 million to NJIT. The company is a key NJIT contractor and provides operational services in the WEC.

NJIT Chemist Wins Wallace H. Coulter Award for Career Achievements
NJIT Distinguished Professor of Chemistry Wunmi Sadik has recently been honored with the prestigious Wallace H. Coulter Lectureship during a guest appearance at one of the largest scientific conferences on laboratory science in the world, Pittcon. The Wallace H. Coulter Lectureship is presented each year at Pittcon to an “outstanding individual who has demonstrated a lifetime commitment to, and made important contributions that have had a significant impact on education, practice and/or research in laboratory science.”

Vishnu Komanduri is a Ph.D. student in the Helen and John C. Hartman Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) advised by Dr. Roberto Rojas-Cessa. His research focuses on network congestion control, and machine-learning-assisted network design.

'Green Brick City' Selected as Winning Proposal in Honors College Biodiversity Initiative
NJIT’s Albert Dorman Honors College held its First-Year Seminar Biodiversity Initiatives colloquium, in which six student-led proposals were presented to renovate an area next to Kupfrian Hall. These student-driven initiatives allow for the Urban Ecology Lab (UEL), ADHC, the Real Estate Development and Capital Operations (REDCO) and the Office of Sustainability to team up together to make NJIT’s campus into a more sustainable and biodiverse community.

Corry's Game-Winner Puts Lacrosse Past Manhattan, NJIT Stays Unbeaten

Six exceptional students have been awarded the Avanade STEM Scholarship to further their pursuit of a degree at NJIT. Avanade, in support of its mission to encourage young people — especially women — to study and succeed in STEM disciplines, has partnered with NJIT since 2016 and awarded scholarships annually to advance this cause.
