Men's Lacrosse Moves To 4-0 With Thrilling OT Win Over Monmouth
There seems to be something special brewing in Newark. In a meeting of in-state rivals, the NJIT men's lacrosse team rallied from four goals down in the third quarter and three down in the fourth to beat the Monmouth Hawks, 14-13, in overtime Wednesday evening at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium. 4 NJIT Highlanders Make NJBIZ's Power 100 List for 2024
Four NJIT Highlanders are featured in NJBIZ’s Power 100 list for 2024, including President Teik C. Lim. The others are Luis De La Hoz, who serves on NJIT’s Hispanic Latinx Leadership Council, and two members of the Board of Directors of NJIT’s New Jersey Innovation Institute: Debbie Hart and Michele Siekerka. In its entry for Lim, the business publication cited the high rank that NJIT achieved from The Wall Street Journal/College Pulse last year: No. 19 in the U.S. — the second highest ranking for a public university.

Economics of Recycling: New Futures for Old Plastics
In the 1967 film “The Graduate,” the protagonist is advised by a family friend to pursue a career with a great future: “plastics.” Decades later, as waste from the now ubiquitous material fills landfills, leaches microparticles and clutters oceans, a growing number of students and professors are focused instead on ways to recycle and remediate it.

Men's Lacrosse Remains Undefeated After 11-7 Win At Mount St. Mary's

NJIT Professor David Rothenberg Presents New Book 'The Secret Sounds of Ponds'
David Rothenberg, distinguished professor of philosophy and music at New Jersey Institute of Technology, presented his new book “The Secret Sounds of Ponds”, a book, music and performance initiative. Rothenberg started this project during the pandemic. When everybody was home, he decided to visit a nearby pond. After “tossing a microphone in,” he was able to capture an entirely new realm: the unexpected and stirring rhythms of some of the smallest and loudest creatures on Earth.

VentureLink Alum Randal Pinkett Speaks for Black History Month Celebration
Engineer and diversity consultant Randal Pinkett opened New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Black History Month celebration by directly addressing inequities that still face minority communities in 2024. Pinkett worked out of NJIT’s VentureLink startup incubator and earned an honorary doctorate of science in 2007. “It has been an absolute blessing to be a part of this university community. Everywhere I go, I carry my NJIT ID,” he said.

Ying Wu College of Computing Professor Has a Mission to LEVEL UP Inclusive Computing Education
Professor Jim Geller, chair of the department of Data Science, attended a January conference hosted by the Computing Research Initiative’s (CRA) LEVEL UP program, whose mission is to build a nation-wide consensus of best practices among computing departments to increase diversity through inclusive recruitment and course offerings.

Después de dejar su Venezuela natal, llegó a Estados Unidos y buscó diferentes formas para integrarse en su nueva comunidad. Llegar al New Jersey Institute of Technology requirió mucho esfuerzo, pero ahora que está aquí, se siente orgullosa de todo lo logrado y lo que todavía le falta por cumplir. La arquitectura siempre le interesó como profesión, como también el diseño gráfico, diseño de interiores y diseño de modas.

Isabella Gil Appreciates all the Opportunities NJIT and the US Give Her
Isabella Gil ’24 always tries to take advantage of every opportunity that comes her way. After leaving her native Venezuela, she came to the United States and looked for different ways to integrate into her new community. Getting to NJIT required a lot of effort, but now that she is here, she feels proud of her achievements and all that’s ahead of her. Architecture has always interested her as a profession, as well as graphic design, interior design and fashion design.

US News Ranks NJIT Top 100 in Two Online Master's Programs
New Jersey Institute of Technology continues to be recognized nationally by U.S. News & World Report for its online master’s offerings in information technology, engineering and business. For 2024, NJIT earned two rankings inside the top 100: No. 31 for its online master’s in information technology and No. 61 for its online master’s in engineering. In addition, the university saw two other online programs make lists for the best in the U.S.: its master’s in business and its MBA.

Fernando Vera Buschmann, Fulbright Scholar from Chile, Chose NJIT to Learn from Great Minds
Ying Wu College of Computing (YWCC) and the department of Computer Science are proud to count Fulbright Scholar Fernando Vera Buschmann as a member of its Ph.D. candidate team of researchers, one of a growing number of Fulbright award recipients who have chosen NJIT as an incubator for their professional goals and objectives. He came to NJIT from Osorno, a small town in Patagonia, far south of Santiago, Chile, with a background in physics and pedagogy having obtained his M.Sc. at the University of Chile.

Mingrui Yin - ECE PhD Student of the Month - February 2024
Mingrui Yin is a second year Ph.D. student at UNICS Lab in the ECE Department at NJIT, advised by Dr. Tao Han. His research interests include machine learning (ML) in 5G network resource allocation, end-to-end live 3D human mixed reality (MR) systems and large language model (LLM) in mixed MR system.

Alumnus Endows the Janet McIntosh Riley Scholarship at NJIT
New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) proudly announces the establishment and endowment of the Janet McIntosh Riley Scholarship. Funded by a generous gift from alumnus Darryl P. Riley '83 and his wife Katrin, this scholarship will help cover tuition, fees and room and board for Black and African American undergraduate students who have financial need and are pursuing degrees in chemical engineering or architecture.
