Hace unos veranos, Kenia Suárez visitó NJIT. Tras mudarse de su Lima natal a los Estados Unidos, ella quería saber cómo podría ingresar al Hillier College of Architecture and Design (HCAD con siglas en inglés). Lo que no sabía es que después de esa visita inicial, su carrera y sus sueños tomarían vuelo.

Después de graduarse del New Jersey Institute of Technology, Hilsson Angeles comenzará a trabajar como coordinador de construcción en la empresa de contratación general Burns & McDonnell . Lo que le ayudó llegar hasta este punto ha sido su tremenda ética de trabajo, que heredó de sus padres, y un interés tanto por la arquitectura como por la ingeniería. De hecho, está obteniendo una doble licenciatura en arquitectura y tecnología de gestión de la construcción.

One summer Kenia Suarez decided to visit NJIT. The Lima, Perú native wanted to find out how she could get accepted into NJIT’s Hillier College of Architecture and Design. Little did she know that after that first visit, her career and dreams would take off.  “I went to HCAD, and there were a few professors during summer,” said Suarez. “I was very nervous because I didn't speak much English at the time, and they encouraged me to try it out. One of the professors was John Cays, and he inspired me a lot to just try it, and I did it. When I got accepted, I was over the moon.”

New Jersey Institute of Technology served up a full day of fanfare as its advanced degree graduates walked across the stage in the Wellness and Events Center in three commencement ceremonies on May 15. The 2024 class comprises more than 1,400 graduates and reflects the institution’s steady growth and upward trajectory.

The NJIT baseball team broke an 8-8 tie with five runs in the top of the ninth and held off host UMass Lowell in the bottom half of the inning to win 13-10 and take the three-game America East series from the River Hawks. A special group of NJIT’s graduating seniors is finishing undergraduate life with a flourish — their achievements across the humanities and STEM sciences recently earned them the Outstanding Student Award at the College of Science and Liberal Arts Awards this month.
