An ongoing collaboration between AT&T and NJIT over the past three years has produced several publications and patent applications for inventions that have the potential to revolutionize network experiences. Women's Volleyball Defeats Holy Cross For Third Straight Win
The NJIT women's volleyball team won its third-straight match, defeating host Holy Cross in non-conference action in straight sets on Saturday. With the win, NJIT improved to 5-4 on the season, while Holy Cross' record now stands at 3-6. The Highlanders won the first two sets 25-17 and 25-16, respectively, before taking the third set 26-24 to clinch the match. NJIT out-hit Holy Cross .229 to .130 to earn the three-set win.

Aspiring STEM Students Get Immersive Experience Through NJIT-Stryker Career Day
Students in NJIT’s Center for Pre-College Programs (CPCP) summer offering saw first-hand what a career in STEM looks like thanks to Stryker opening its doors to its medical technology and manufacturing facility. Stryker showed off its half-million square-foot Mahwah campus and the innovation within developed by its engineers and technologists: new-material implants getting people back on their feet in hours instead of days, additive-manufacturing processes unlocking the full potential for design and its state-of-the art Mako surgical robot.

NJIT Professor Advances to Finals of $10M XPRIZE Rainforest Competition
NJIT biology professor Eric Fortune and a team of scientists, known as “Team Waponi”, have reached the final stage of the five-year, $10M XPRIZE Rainforest Competition. In June, Fortune and 13 other team members traveled to the rainforests of Singapore to compete in the semi-finals of the global competition, which challenged teams to develop and demonstrate new technologies for mapping the vast biodiversity of the world's tropical forests.

Wall Street Journal/College Pulse Ranks NJIT No. 2 Public University in the US
New Jersey Institute of Technology is the second-highest ranked public university in the Wall Street Journal/College Pulse 2024 list of the Best Colleges in the U.S. At No. 19 nationally, NJIT is second only to the University of Florida among public universities nationally and to Princeton University among colleges and universities in New Jersey.

Washington Monthly Ranking Reflects NJIT Values of Social Mobility, Service
New Jersey Institute of Technology rose 13 spots to no. 88 among national universities in a ranking based on overall value, service and social mobility, as determined by the non-profit Washington Monthly magazine. The publication’s editors emphasized that such categories are important alternatives to traditional college rankings that tend to favor wealthy, private institutions.

As Classes Begin, Meet 10 Highlanders Energizing Campus
NJIT welcomed its Class of 2027 during this year’s University Convocation, where first-year students from all schools were in attendance. The new academic year has kicked off with a record number of students enrolled. Helping to fuel the new high water mark are 1,805 first-year students— an increase of 23% from the previous year — as of Sept. 1. This year’s incoming freshman class is the largest and most diverse in school history.

NJIT Professor Omowunmi Sadik Named 2023 American Chemical Society Fellow
NJIT Distinguished Professor of Chemistry Omowunmi Sadik has earned the exclusive distinction of being named Fellow by one of the largest scientific organizations globally, the American Chemical Society (ACS). Sadik's “outstanding contributions to science, the profession, and ACS” over her 30-year career earned her selection into ACS's 2023 class of 42 fellows, which was recently recognized at the Society’s Fellow Ceremony in San Francisco.

NJIT Sets New Enrollment, Diversity Records With Incoming Class
New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is kicking off the 2023 academic year by welcoming a new class that sets enrollment and diversity records. Total projected enrollment is up 24% since 2013, reaching a new high of 12,600 students. The fall first-year cohort plays a substantial role in this expansion, with 1,805 new students joining — an increase of over 20% from the previous year — as of Sept. 1.

Despite falling behind by two goals - and having a first half goal effectively disallowed - the NJIT women's soccer team showed its grit and determination by rallying to earn a 3-2 victory over the visiting FDU Knights Sunday afternoon at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.

Yongjie Guan - ECE PhD Student of the Month - September 2023
Yongjie Guan is a fifth-year Ph.D. student whose passion lies at the intersection of technology, research, and real-world problem solving. With a background that spans both academia and practical application. He is deeply invested in designing and deploying real systems such as Augmented Reality/Mixed Reality (AR/MR) systems, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) systems, and distributed machine learning systems.
