US News & World Report Ranks 2 NJIT Graduate Programs in Top 100 Nationally
The latest graduate studies rankings from U.S. News & World Report continue to boost the national standing of New Jersey Institute of Technology in the fields of engineering and computer science, with both programs ranking in the top 100.
NJIT’s Newark College of Engineering (NCE) ranks No. 80 on the publication’s list of the Best Engineering Schools in the U.S. — the ninth consecutive year that NCE has made the top 100.
“NJIT’s enduring placement in the top 100 reflects our intentional investment in hiring first-rate faculty, building and maintaining world-class research facilities and attracting the most promising and brilliant graduate students,” said Moshe Kam, dean of NCE.
NCE offers more than 30 master’s and Ph.D. programs that blend classroom instruction with lab research and other hands-on experiences, as epitomized by NJIT’s 21,000-square-foot Makerspace, the largest such facility in New Jersey.
The college’s national ranking coincides with improved marks for its graduate programs in several engineering disciplines, including environmental, biomedical, mechanical, materials and electrical — all of which are ranked in the top 100. Same goes for its programs in civil, chemical and industrial engineering.
Also making the top 100 this year was NJIT’s graduate program in computer science. The program, from NJIT’s Ying Wu College of Computing (YWCC), ranks No. 86, up five spots from last year.
"Our college continues to improve in U.S. News rankings every year, as it does this year. We are gratified by the progress we have achieved so far in terms of visibility and impact, and we are committed to pursue our efforts towards greater stature and higher rankings,” said Ali Mili, interim dean of YWCC. “The prominence of our world-class faculty and the energy and enthusiasm of our student body represent a potential that has yet to be fully realized."
YWCC offers graduate degrees in several emerging fields, such as artificial intelligence and data science, that are available through flexible learning options on-campus, online and at NJIT’s Jersey City location.
