NJIT Undergrad Alixs Pujols Sheds Light on the Effects of Nanoplastics on Female Reproductive Health
During the pandemic, Alixs Pujols ’24 read an article that inspired her to become an undergraduate research assistant at the Laboratory of Endocrine Disruption & Chemical Biology (EDC Lab). That article showed how researchers had found nanoplastics in the placenta, which caught Pujols’ attention.

NJIT's New Provost on His Goals, Approach and Why He Pops into Classrooms
As the new provost of New Jersey Institute of Technology, John Pelesko brings decades of experience as a professor, department chair, associate dean and most recently dean at the University of Delaware, where he had spent 21 years. Pelesko also has the benefit of knowing NJIT firsthand: he was a graduate student here in the 1990s, when he earned a Ph.D. in mathematical sciences.

NJIT's Online M.S. in Computer Science Ranked 5th in Nation by Fortune
New Jersey Institute of Technology is fifth nationwide for its online M.S. in computer science, according to the latest ranking from Fortune. The publication's ranking follows their prior report from January, which placed NJIT's Ying Wu College of Computing fourth nationwide in cybersecurity and data science specialties.

At NJIT, NJ's Governor Lays Out Plans for Trade Mission to East Asia
New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, during an appearance at New Jersey Institute of Technology, unveiled plans for a trade mission to East Asia this fall that will seek to generate more jobs and investment in the state. Murphy, speaking during a business roundtable with N.J. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Tom Bracken, said the trip “at minimum” would include stops in Japan and South Korea and take place in October. The N.J. delegation, he added, will comprise elected officials, diplomats and leaders of business, culture and higher education, including NJIT President Teik C. Lim.

U.S. Coast Guard Flotilla Among Three New Ways for Highlanders to Earn Wings
Several new aeronautical opportunities will provide hands-on training for New Jersey Institute of Technology students who look to the sky. Starting this fall, NJIT will establish an official group of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary University Program, known as a flotilla. It will meet at Caldwell Airport and it's only the fifth air station out of 79 flotillas in the Auxiliary's first district, southern region, which covers metropolitan New York and beyond.

Mohammad Mostafa Al Mahfuz - ECE PhD Student of the Month - July 2023
Mohammad Mostafa Al Mahfuz is a Ph.D. candidate at the Helen and John C. Hartmann Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). He is currently working in the Nanoelectronic Materials and Devices Lab (NMD) under the supervision of Professor Dong-Kyun Ko. His research focuses on colloidal quantum dots for infrared detectors and vertical thin film transistors.
