Special Reception Brings Donors and Scholarship Winners Together
A marquee event during Inauguration Week was the Scholarship Reception and Networking event, which invites generous benefactors who have created scholarships at the university to engage directly with the student beneficiaries at a celebratory luncheon. The event humanizes and demonstrates the impact of giving back and removing a financial burden to those who may need it most, as President Teik C. Lim told his own story of how a scholarship changed his, and subsequently his family’s life.

JerseyCTF 2023 Cybersecurity Competition Draws Record Participation
This year's Jersey Capture The Flag competition proved that participants and organizers could hack it, as the real-time event organized by NJIT students attracted 1,515 registrants comprising 801 teams from across the globe, all trying to crack 60 cybersecurity-based puzzles.

Hillier College Alumni, Student Work Featured in Milestone Design Showcase Event
The Hillier College of Architecture and Design (HCAD) kicked off its year-long celebration of two very important milestones – the 50th year anniversary of the New Jersey School of Architecture and the 15th anniversary of the School of Art & Design. The Design Showcase is the college’s flagship fundraising and networking event, which provides a chance for members of the Hillier College community to connect personally and professionally. This year’s event took place in the Jewel Box of One Gateway Center in downtown Newark, made possible by Onyx Equities.

New Jersey Institute of Technology maintains its national reputation for return on investment and career placement in 2023 rankings from The Princeton Review. Among public schools, The Princeton Review ranked NJIT No. 11 on its list of the Top 20 for Best Career Placement and No. 35 on its list of the Top 50 Best Value Colleges.

2 NJIT Grad Programs Rank Top 100 in US News & World Report
New Jersey Institute of Technology further burnishes its reputation in engineering and computer science in the latest graduate studies rankings from U.S. News & World Report. NJIT’s Newark College of Engineering (NCE) now ranks No. 77 on the publication’s list of the Best Engineering Schools in the U.S. — up eight notches from last year. It’s the eighth consecutive year that NCE has made the top 100.

NJIT's Student-Researchers Shine at Dana Knox Research Showcase
Some of NJIT’s brightest up-and-coming researchers grabbed center stage on campus at the Dana Knox Student Research Showcase, a springtime tradition that continues to highlight student ingenuity and diverse research accomplishments across the university’s six colleges. For participants of the 18th annual research competition, it was a special opportunity to connect with the campus community by discussing their recent discoveries and innovations, most of which have been years in the making.

WATCH: Press Conference for New Men's Basketball Head Coach Grant Billmeier
The NJIT Department of Athletics held a press conference to announce and welcome Grant Billmeier as the new head coach of the men's basketball program. Billmeier, a New Jersey native who brings a wealth of experience to NJIT, was announced as the 12th men's basketball coach in program history last week. This past season, the Seton Hall graduate helped lead Maryland to the NCAA Tournament where the Terrapins advanced to the second round and also coached at his alma for 11 seasons over two stints.

Adebunmi Gbadebo '21 Shares Her Experience in the Creation of Newark's Harriet Tubman Monument
NJIT alumna, Adebunmi Gbadebo ‘21, played an important role in the unveiling of the Harriet Tubman Monument, located at the intersection of Washington and Broad Streets, in downtown Newark. Gbadebo served as the community engagement apprentice, working closely with Nina Cooke John, the architect and designer of the monument. The monument, titled “Shadow of a Face,” will be the centerpiece of a community gathering space in the recently renamed Harriet Tubman Square.

NJIT Design Student and Oncologist Work to Make Life Easier for Patients with Mediports
Johmary Adames ’24 and Dr. Krupesh Patel have joined forces to create a protective cover to shield patients’ mediports. Adames is an industrial design major, and Dr. Patel is a pediatric oncologist, who’s close to finishing his MBA at NJIT. Mediports are small, surgically installed devices, usually placed on the chest of cancer patients. They are used for easier, long-term access to draw labs, transfusions and administer infusible medications such as chemotherapy.

NJIT Public Safety Swearing-In and Awards Ceremony Highlights Department's Community Engagement
A new crop of police officers have officially been sworn into the NJIT police force, which included the promotion of Kevin Kesselman to Chief of Police. Kesselman, who has been a member of the NJIT force since 2001 starting as a public safety officer, welcomed a packed house that included faculty, staff, students, families and members of neighboring police departments showing support in NJIT’s Ballroom.

Martin Tuchman School of Management Sharpens Tech MBA Degree
Current and future MBA students are in for good news at NJIT's Martin Tuchman School of Management, with the degree requirements being shortened from 48 credits to 36, and with an even stronger emphasis on their forward-looking, technology-focused curriculum. The changes streamline the program into the nationwide trend of shorter, more affordable paths to graduation, while doubling down on the uniqueness of being part of a public polytechnic institution.

Two NJIT Students Win Prestigious Fellowships to Grow in their Fields of Study
Two NJIT undergraduates won prestigious fellowships. Olivia Kolakowski ’24 was awarded the Brooke Owens Fellowship, and Milan Patel ’23 has been selected as an Amgen Scholar at Columbia University. The Fellowship is designed to serve both as an inspiration and as a career boost to capable young women and other gender minorities who, like Dawn Brooke Owens (1980-2016), aspire to explore the sky and stars, to shake up the aerospace industry, and to help their fellow people here on planet Earth.

NJIT Prof. Wins NSF CAREER Award to Study Quantum Material for Next-Gen Electronics
NJIT Assistant Professor of Physics Junjie Yang has won a National Science Foundation’s (NSF) CAREER Award to explore the unusual properties of quantum materials that hold the potential to propel the next generation of smaller, more energy-efficient electronic devices. The CAREER Award is among NSF’s most prestigious awards in support of early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education, and lead advances in the mission of their department or organization. Approximately 500 awards are issued each year nationally.
