YWCC Students Land Jobs and Internships with Bank of America During Recent Fall Recruiting Event
In 2023, there are still a wealth of career opportunities in industries for students who demonstrate the right combination of ability, acumen, and soft skills. Such was the case for many Ying Wu College of Computing (YWCC) students who attended a fall on-campus recruitment event and subsequently were offered either full-time positions or internships with Bank of America in the next few months.

NJIT Baseball Holds Off Purdue 7-5 for Second Win this Weekend Over the Big Ten Foe
The NJIT baseball team held off Purdue on Sunday, hitting three home runs and pitching well down the stretch en route to a 7-5 victory over the Boilermakers at Ting Stadium. Sunday's win puts NJIT back above .500 at 4-3, while the Boilermakers are now 5-3 on the season after the squads split this weekend's four-game series. Purdue took games one and three, while the Highlanders were victorious in two and four. All four contests were close, with NJIT's 5-1 victory in Friday night's game being the largest margin of victory.

To Engage Black Community, Computer Science Chair Reflects on Past
Among 13 children in a struggling Ivory Coast family, it would have been understandable if Vincent Oria went into business, apprenticed to a tradesman, or dreamed of the soccer pitch. Instead, long before becoming chairman of NJIT's Department of Computer Science, he followed his schoolteacher father into the world of academics, concentrating on physics as he loved the applied mathematics of science.

NJIT Career Fair Growth Fuels Changes, Innovations for Improved Experiences and Outcomes
NJIT’s Career Development Services hosted its marquee event, again besting attendance and participation numbers over its previous career fair. Taking a page out of the logistics-improvement playbook of participating companies like UPS, Johnson & Johnson, Raytheon and others, CDS implemented changes to improve candidate and employer efficiency and experience.

FEMA's Marc K. Raoul '10 Helps Disaster-Struck Communities Recover and Rebuild
Since 2011, NJIT alumnus Marc K. Raoul ’10, an emergency management specialist for FEMA, has traveled across the U.S. and its territories to help communities recover and rebuild following hurricanes, floods and pandemics. A veteran of Hurricanes Sandy (2012), Irma (2017) and Maria (2017), he’s been a damage assessor, a disaster recovery planner and a proposal reviewer for towns and cities in New Jersey, Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, New York, Missouri, California, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

'Byte Into Hardware' is New Hackathon by Engineering Students, Coming to NJIT this Spring
A new event on campus, Byte into Hardware, aims to remind us of the joy in exploring hacker culture's physical roots. The hardware hackathon will take place April 1-2 with themes focusing on accessibility and sustainability. Breadboards, microcontrollers and sensors will be everywhere, in contrast to the annual NJIT ACM chapter's HackNJIT, which skews to the software side. Registration is here.

Teik C. Lim, president of New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), was named to the NJBIZ “Power 100” list of business and economic influencers throughout New Jersey. The publication’s annual series is compiled by the NJBIZ editorial staff based on their reporting throughout the past year, with input from experts in a variety of fields and recommendations from their readership.

NJII Earns Honors as a 'Leader in Digital Technology' from NJBIZ
New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII) has been honored as a “Leader in Digital Technology” by NJBIZ, a leading business journal in New Jersey, for its role in advances in health information technology (HealthIT) used throughout the state. NJII, an NJIT corporation, is part of the 2023 cohort of awardees in which the publication is recognizing the most impactful companies and individuals “making a difference in the digital space.”

NJIT Alumna, Pamela Ospina, Recognized in Interior Design Magazine's 30 Under 30
Pamela Ospina ’18 was selected and recognized in Interior Design Magazine’s top 30 designers under the age of 30. Ospina, a Paramus, New Jersey native, works at M Moser Associates in New York City. “I am very appreciative of the opportunities that have been presented to me,” said Ospina. “I work with very talented and inspirational designers that I look up to. This recognition could only have been achieved by the support of my colleagues.”

Alejandra Zuniga Selected America East Rookie of the Week for the Fourth Time This Season
Freshman Alejandra Zuniga has been selected America East Conference Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season and league office announced on Monday. Zuniga, who picked up her second consecutive Rookie of the Week honor, averaged 22.0ppg, 4.5rpg and 4.5apg in a 1-1 week for the Highlanders.

HCAD Gallery Presents 'Troy West: The Architecture and Art of Belonging'
The J. Robert and Barbara A. Hillier College of Architecture and Design (HCAD) Gallery has opened “Troy West: The Architecture and Art of Belonging,” an exhibition that showcases the drawings, sculptures and architectural projects of the late Troy West, RA. Born in Pittsburgh, West began practicing architecture and art in the late 1950’s, with a specialty in community design advocacy. He moved to Newark, New Jersey in 1973 to become one of the founding faculty at the NJIT School of Architecture.

Monarchs & Milkweed Selected as Winning Proposal in ADHC First-Year Seminar Biodiversity Initiatives
NJIT’s Albert Dorman Honors College held its First-Year Seminar Biodiversity Initiatives colloquium, in which four student-led proposals were presented to renovate the space near the Summit Street parking garage. These student-driven initiatives allow for the Urban Ecology Lab, ADHC, the Real Estate Development and Capital Operations (REDCO) and the Office of Sustainability to team up together to make NJIT’s campus into a more sustainable community.

Startup Jobs Fair Connects NJIT Students to Local Entrepreneurs
NJIT's Entrepreneur Society hosts an annual startup job fair, providing students with the opportunity to pursue careers and meet directly with the founders of new local companies. Hundreds of students attend, many looking for the perfect match, while others were there to network or learn about the startup experience from the dozens of companies present. Aravindakshan Sarma, studying for an M.S. in information systems, said he's looking for a full-time job and prefers working at a startup rather than a large company.

NJIT Particle Engineer Ecevit Bilgili is Named an AIChE Fellow
Ecevit Bilgili, a professor of chemical and materials engineering who boosts the therapeutic efficacy of pharmaceutical drugs through nanoengineering, while also lowering the cost to design and manufacture them, has been elected a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). In his Particle Engineering and Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology Laboratory, Bilgili and his team develop, for example, nanoparticle formulations and processes that enable the immediate release of poorly water-soluble drugs and enhance the performance of long-acting injectable drugs.
