VLDB is a premier annual international forum for data management and database researchers, vendors, practitioners, application developers, and users. The VLDB 2023 conference featured research talks, tutorials, demonstrations, and workshops, and explored issues in data management, database and information systems research as the technological cornerstones of the emerging applications of the 21st century.
Professor Baruch Schieber, Associate Professor Senjuti Basu Roy, Md Mouinul Islam Ph.D. ‘23 and Ph.D. candidate Dong Wei presented their paper on “Satisfying Complex Top-k Fairness Constraints by Preference Substitutions.”
Basu Roy and Islam, along with Mahsa Asadi Ph.D. ’23 and Sihem Amer-Yahia (CNRS: Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique), presented a paper titled “A Generic Framework for Efficient Computation of Top-k Diverse Results.”
A workshop on “Proportionate Diversification of Top-k LLM Results using Database Queries” was conducted by Basu Roy, Assistant Professor Mengnan Du and Subhodeep Ghosh, an undergraduate exchange student from the Heritage Institute of Technology in India.
