Gennady Gor, associate professor of the Chemical and Materials Engineering department, was overcome with joy for the second time when his second undergraduate researcher, Nicholas Corrente defended his Ph.D. thesis at Rutgers University.
Nick joined my group at NJIT in 2018 to work on thermodynamics of adsorption and confined fluids, and his accomplishments exceeded my expectations for an undergrad. By the summer of 2019 when he graduated summa cum laude from the Chemical and Materials Engineering department, he had two projects completed, and two manuscripts in preparation. Both came out in 2020 when he was already a Ph.D. student at Rutgers https://lnkd.in/eDkVVXi7 and https://lnkd.in/e4BMfPaV
At Rutgers, Nick joined the group of Alexander V. Neimark, my postdoctoral advisor in 2009-2011 and continued working on molecular modeling of adsorption. His thesis "Coupling Structural, Adsorption, and Mechanical Properties of Nanoporous Carbons Using Advanced Molecular Simulation Methods" contributed a lot to this field. Nick has always been a great presenter, and listening to his presentation today was a pure joy. Rutgers CBE department is very lucky to have Nick, who is staying there as a teaching faculty and continuing his research as well.
Nick, congratulations once again, we are very proud of you!
