Men's Basketball Battles to First America East Win, 64-59
Tariq Francis posted a stellar all-around performance, tallying 19 points, eight assists, five rebounds and three steals as NJIT earned its first America East victory of the season with a 64-59 win over New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon.

NJIT Awarded in State's Pilot Global Entrepreneurs-in-Residence Program
The New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education (OSHE) announced awards to two institutions of higher education under the state’s pilot Global Entrepreneurs-in-Residence (Global EIR) program. With a targeted focus on driving innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of generative AI, this economic development initiative leverages New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) and William Paterson University to create pathways for international entrepreneurs to stay in the state to grow their startups.

Urban Gardens Workshop at NJIT Advances Sustainability and Food Security
NJIT hosted a National Science Foundation-funded Research Coordination Network (RCN) workshop on Urban Food, Energy, and Water (Urban FEW) in November. The event brought together researchers, technologists, urban gardeners and policymakers to tackle urban challenges related to food, water and energy security. Organized by NJIT’s Roberto Rojas-Cessa and New York Institute of Technology’s Ziqian Dong (also an NJIT alum), the workshop aimed to foster connections between academia and community stakeholders in Newark and beyond.

Amirasalan Moatazedian - ECE PhD Student of the Month - January 2025
Amirarsalan Moatazedian has been a Ph.D. student in electrical engineering at NJIT since Fall 2024. He is advised by Dr. Joerg Kliewer and his research interests include information theory, generative adversarial networks and privacy preserving encoding. Before he entered his current Ph.D. program, he was a Ph.D. student at Villanova University in Pennsylvania for one academic year, and before that, a Ph.D. student at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville for one semester. He completed my M.Sc. in electrical engineering (Telecommunications) in Germany in 2020 and he completed my B.Sc.

Zuniga's 29 Points Lead to 4th Straight Win, NJIT Remains Perfect in America East
Rising junior Alejandra Zuniga scored a game-best 29 points leading the Highlanders to a 72-54 home victory over visiting UMass Lowell in America East Conference women's basketball action inside the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center Saturday afternoon. NJIT, winners of four straight, improved to 6-10 overall and remain perfect in America East with a 3-0 mark.

Anna Maria DiBrita '24 utiliza su educación STEM de NJIT para inspirar al futuro de España
Anna Maria DiBrita ’24 no tuvo mucho tiempo para estudiar en el extranjero mientras cursaba su carrera en ingeniería biomédica. Como becaria de Albert Dorman Honors College, mantuvo una agenda muy ocupada en el campus: fue miembro de la Society of Female Engineers, embajadora de ingeniería biomédica y del Honors College, Orientation Fellow, entre otros roles. Sin embargo, ahora DiBrita ha obtenido una beca Fulbright y es asistente de enseñanza de inglés en las Islas Canarias.

Fulbright Scholar Anna Maria DiBrita Shares Her NJIT STEM Knowledge with Spain's Future
Anna Maria DiBrita ’24 didn’t quite have the time to study abroad during her time pursuing her degree in biomedical engineering. The Albert Dorman Honors Scholar kept a full plate on campus — member of the Society of Female Engineers, ambassadorships for biomedical engineering and the Honors College, Orientation Fellow among others. But now, DiBrita has earned a Fulbright scholarship and is an English teaching assistant in Spain’s Canary Islands.

NJIT Appoints Steve Saperstein '84 Chair of Foundation Board of Directors
New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), an R1 polytechnic university, is pleased to announce that alumnus Steven B. Saperstein ’84 will become the chair of the NJIT Foundation Board of Directors on January 1, 2025. The Foundation Board is responsible for stewarding the university’s endowment and supporting fundraising efforts. Also announced is the appointment of Michael Pages to chair of the Joint Investment Committee (JIC) of the NJIT Foundation.
