Two Highlanders are Inducted to the National Academy of Construction

Two design and engineering innovators — Kim Vierheilig and Wei Wang — have been elected to the National Academy of Construction (NAC) Class of 2025, a prestigious honor recognizing individuals who have made significant, lasting contributions to the construction industry. Their election reflects the significant professional achievements of NJIT alumni and advisory leaders who continue to contribute to the advancement of the construction industry.
The NAC is composed of constructors, engineers, architects, consultants, attorneys, academics and other experts who are recognized for their service, integrity and advancement of the construction field. Founded in 1999, the Academy elects new members annually through a peer-driven process, with the 2025 class to be formally inducted Oct. 30 in Colorado Springs.
Kim Vierheilig — President, STV National Buildings Group
An alumna of NJIT’s Hillier College of Architecture and Design (B.Arch ’99) and Martin Tuchman School of Management (M.S. Management ’00), Vierheilig serves as president of STV’s National Buildings Group. In this role, she oversees a national portfolio of architecture and engineering projects in education, justice, transportation and health care.
Vierheilig was appointed to NJIT’s Board of Trustees in 2024, and her NJIT service also includes the Foundation Board of Directors, the Advisory Board for the Hillier College of Architecture and Design and as a co-chair of NJIT’s annual Celebration gala.
Vierheilig has contributed extensively to her field and been a mentor for the next generation of professionals. She presently serves on boards for the Society of American Military Engineers New York City Post and the ACE Mentor Program of America, and as the vice chair for the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey. A licensed professional engineer in five states, Wang is known for leading complex bridge projects, including the Kosciuszko, Marine Parkway and Third Avenue bridges, many using accelerated bridge construction (ABC) techniques.
