NJIT Board of Trustees Adds Leaders in Finance and Health Care

Business leaders Adam Broder and Adam Shain have joined the Board of Trustees of New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Broder and Shain, who were appointed by N.J. Gov. Phil Murphy, bring extensive expertise in launching and growing businesses in financial services and health care, respectively.
“Our new trustees deepen and strengthen our ties to the business world and bring valuable insights and experiences that will help us on our journey to become an even more prolific nexus of innovation,” NJIT President Teik C. Lim said.
Board of Trustees Chair Robert Cohen added that the trustees will help “expand our understanding of and linkage to key business sectors, which will enhance our capability to prepare students to excel in impactful and rewarding careers.”
Broder is founder and president of The Broder Group, a strategic consultancy that helps small and mid-sized financial firms grow in the U.S. and abroad. Clients include banks, asset managers, hedge funds, fintech providers, endowments, insurance companies and universities.
Earlier in his career, Broder held leadership roles at Goldman Sachs, Och-Ziff Capital Management and PGIM, the asset management arm of Prudential Financial. At Goldman Sachs, where he spent more than 15 years and worked in New York, London, Hong Kong and Mumbai, he built and managed businesses across six continents.
Broder, who holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a bachelor’s in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University, also teaches finance as an adjunct professor at Stevens Institute of Technology, Seton Hall University and Montclair State University.
Shain is vice president, global head of patient solutions within Aptar Pharma’s Digital Health division, part of AptarGroup, Inc. — a global leader in drug and consumer product dosing, dispensing, and protection technologies. In this role, he leads the strategy and operations for Aptar’s in-market and direct-to-patient digital health solutions. He also plays a key role in AptarGroup’s government affairs, focusing on public-private partnerships and federal contracting. He works closely with cross-functional and international teams, external partners and industry leaders to deliver innovative solutions that address critical health care challenges.
Shain also has been a leader at Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, as associate director of managed market and logistics, and associate director of external R&D and global marketing for their branded pharmaceutical business.
Shain is an alumnus of NJIT, where he earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s in biomedical engineering, and serves on the Industrial Advisory Board of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the university’s Newark College of Engineering. He’s also a trustee at Raritan Valley Community College.
NJIT’s Board of Trustees now has 15 members, including nine alumni.
