NJIT Slugs Past Bellarmine to Improve to 2-0
The NJIT baseball team used a six-run seventh inning to come from behind and defeat Bellarmine 9-3 in a neutral site contest hosted by Gardner Webb on Saturday. The rally turned a 2-1 deficit into a comfortable 7-2 lead for the Highlanders, which will now take a 2-0 record into a Sunday morning showdown with nationally-ranked Virginia.

Computing Students Provide Real-World Solutions for Bank of America in Capstone Project
Capstone projects, done in collaboration with companies, are a requirement for every senior in the Ying Wu College of Computing (YWCC) at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), but two teams of students have exceeded expectations with a pair of solutions that Bank of America (BofA) counts as more than class projects.

Treena Arinzeh, a biomedical engineer who combines bioactive materials and human cells in novel architectures to regenerate nerve and bone tissue, was elected a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI).

"Abstract Geometries" Exhibit Debuts in Hillier College Gallery
The Hillier College of Architecture and Design Gallery at NJIT opened its doors to its spring exhibition featuring professional artists Gianluca Bianchino and Kati Vilim. The works consist of abstract geometric paintings and wall reliefs in the manner of assemblage or multimedia sculpture.

Two NJIT "Rising Stars" are Named Senior Members of the National Academy of Inventors
Murat Guvendiren, a chemical and materials engineer who designs biomaterials that train stem cells to differentiate in the proper sequence to form functioning organs and tissues, and Mengyan Li, a microbiologist who develops sustainable water remediation techniques to biodegrade persistent industrial pollutants, have been named senior members of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI).

Urban Design Studio for Newark Federal Campus a Model for Agency Collaboration
In the fall of 2021, Professor Georgeen Theodore led her Urban Design students in a collaboration with the Newark-based federal offices of the General Services Administration. Located at 970 Broad Street, the federal building is named after U.S Representative Peter Rodino, and is home to the offices of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Jorge Medina - ECE PhD Student of the Month - February 2022
Jorge Medina is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Helen and John C. Hartmann Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). His research focus is on the optimization of networked communications systems, network programmability, and blockchain under the advisement of Professor Roberto Rojas-Cessa. Jorge is passionate about coding and learning about innovating technology. During his free time, he enjoys cooking, going to the gym, and watching movies and documentaries.

Women's Basketball Records 12th Win of the Season in 69-52 Win at Hartford
The NJIT women's basketball team recorded its 12th win of the season in a 69-52 win at Hartford behind four double-figure scorers paced by Lyzi Litwinko's team-best 16 points Saturday afternoon in America East Conference women's basketball action at Chase Family Arena. The 12 wins for NJIT this season is the second highest win total since moving to Division I in the 2006-07 and the seven road wins is a new NJIT Division I mark.

Men's Volleyball Extends Win Streak to Six, Feldthus Paces NJIT with 15 Kills in Win Over Princeton
The NJIT men's volleyball team extended its win streak to six, defeating visiting Princeton, 3-1, in EIVA Conference men's volleyball action Saturday afternoon inside NJIT's Wellness and Events Center. NJIT, winners of the last six, which started with a 3-0 home victory over Purdue Fort Wayne, followed up by knocking off then-ranked No. 12 UC San Diego, weekend sweep of LIU and a pair of home EIVA Conference wins over George Mason and Princeton, improving to 6-2 on the season and 2-0 in the league. The Highlanders remain perfect at home with a 5-0 record.

Royal Society of Chemistry Awards Fellow Status to NJIT's Kevin Belfield
Kevin Belfield, dean of NJIT’s College of Science and Liberal Arts, has been named fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). RSC is the world’s oldest professional society of chemists, founded in 1841, and has grown to over 54,000 members around the world. The society awards fellow status to distinguished chemists that have served a minimum of five years in a senior position and have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of the chemical sciences.

Norma Clayton Elected to the National Academy of Engineering
The National Academy of Engineering (NAE) has elected co-vice chair of the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) Board of Trustees Norma Clayton ’81 as a new member. The culmination of a yearlong process, Clayton is part of a new cohort of 111 national and 22 international members, bringing the NAE’s total U.S. membership to 2,388 and the number of international members to 310.

Fall Semester Address
NJIT Community Members, Welcome back to campus for the Fall 2021 semester! It has been quite some time since our university was operating at full capacity, and we are looking forward to the return of our vibrant campus community. As I noted in an earlier message, COVID will be with us for the foreseeable future, so we must continue to follow the protocols that we have put in place, but we are confident that NJIT has taken the steps necessary to create the safest possible living and learning environment for its students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

NJIT Promotes from Within to Fill New Bursar & Associate Treasurer Role
NJIT's Conrad Corpus has assumed the new role of university bursar and associate treasurer. Corpus, a longtime university employee, previously was director of Financial Systems and Innovation (FSI). He has been with NJIT since 2006. In his new role, Corpus will manage the overall student financial services function, which includes billings and receivables. Additionally, he will oversee the treasury operations, focusing on managing banking relations, credit card operations and federal and state regulatory compliances.

Memorial Day 2021
NJIT Community Members, Today, many of us will have the opportunity to safely gather with family and friends as we mark the Memorial Day holiday and honor those who have died while serving in the U.S. military.
