Men's Fencing Wraps Up Competition at the 2022 Mid-Atlantic/South Regional
Nine NJIT men's fencers represented the Highlanders at the 2022 Mid-Atlantic/South Regionals and were paced by junior Kevin Katayama who picked up a top-nine finish in the men's foil competition hosted by Princeton University at Jadwin Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.

Women's Fencing Concludes Competition at the 2022 Mid-Atlantic/South Regional
Six NJIT women's fencers represented the Highlanders at the 2022 Mid-Atlantic/South Regionals and were paced by junior Dominika Pawlowska who picked up a top-seven finish in the women's epee competition hosted by Princeton University at Jadwin Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.

Engineering Students Give Water In Ecuador
A small indigenous Ecuadorian community now has clean spring water thanks to a passionate group of engineering students at the NJIT Chapter of Engineers Without Borders. The initiative started in 2016 as part of an independent project led by Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Jay Meegoda. Students in his classes were tasked with the design and implementation of a spring cap to clean and increase the supply of water from a natural spring in the Cotopaxi Province.

NJIT Maintains Top Spot for Return on Investment
NJIT students’ return on investment is at the top of the charts according to the Georgetown Center on Education and the Workforce, which ranked NJIT in the top 10% for return on investment nationwide. In New Jersey, NJIT is ranked No. 1 among public four-year institutions, and second overall in the state.

NJIT Physicist Wins NSF CAREER Award to Explore Explosive Solar Connection
Satoshi Inoue, assistant professor of physics and member of the Center for Solar-Terrestrial Research (CSTR) at NJIT, is investigating a mysterious connection between two of space’s most powerful explosions as part of a new CAREER award from the National Science Foundation. Inoue joins a select group of researchers by earning the CAREER award — one of the NSF’s most prestigious awards designed to support early-career researchers and their development as faculty-mentors.

Women's Tennis Shuts Out Quinnipiac At Home
The NJIT women's tennis team returned to the win column with a 7-0 shutout victory over the Quinnipiac Bobcats Sunday afternoon at the Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility. The 7-0 win was the Highlanders' second in their last four games and improved NJIT's home record to 3-1 on the season.

The NJIT women's basketball team advanced to its first-ever America East Conference semifinals defeating visiting UMass Lowell, 47-33, led by Kenna Squier (14pts) and Ellyn Stoll (13 points) Saturday afternoon inside NJIT's Wellness and Events Center.

NJIT Machine Learning Expert Pan Xu Combats COVID Vaccine Inequity
An NJIT computer scientist studied COVID vaccine data from Minnesota to design equitable methods of distributing vital resources during any widespread emergency. The resulting algorithm showed that giving everyone equal access to vital resources isn't necessarily the best approach, depending on the methods and desires of emergency authorities, explained Pan Xu, assistant professor in Ying Wu College of Computing.

Track and Field Ends America East Indoors With Medals and Records
The NJIT track and field teams wrapped up their first-ever America East Indoor Championships Saturday evening on the campus of Boston University. TEAM STANDINGS The Highlander men completed their time at the championship meet with 20 points (8th place) while the NJIT women scored 11 points (9th place).

NJIT Co-Hosts Second Annual Forensic Science Summit for the Criminal Defense Bar
On March 22-23, New Jersey’s forensic and legal professionals will convene again at the 2022 Forensic Science Summit for the Criminal Defense Bar to discuss the latest advances in forensic sience and its increasing influence in today’s courtrooms. The summit is considered among the leading annual forensic science conferences for New Jersey’s defense attorneys and investigators, promising a variety of talks from experts and collaborative training workshops with forensic scientists, law enforcement, legal professionals and students from across the state.

NJIT Women's Basketball to Host America East Conference Quarterfinals March 5
The NJIT women's basketball team will host its first-ever America East Conference Postseason Tournament contest Saturday, March 5 inside NJIT's Wellness and Events Center with tip-off slated for 4 p.m. NJIT will host its third America East Conference postseason championship since joining the league in July 2020 – Men's and Women's Swimming Championships (April 23-25, 2021), Women's Soccer Quarterfinals (Oct. 31, 2021) and Women's Basketball Quarterfinals (March 5, 2022).

NJ Congresswoman Speaks at Opening of 'Cutting-Edge' Celluloid Plant
U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill recognizes the value of a new pilot plant in her New Jersey district that will modernize munitions development through the production of foamable celluloid. The 16,000-square-foot plant in Fairfield, N.J. is run by the Polymer Processing Institute (PPI), which is based on the campus of New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark. PPI and NJIT are partners in the Joint Munitions Manufacturing Technology Group (JMMTG) that also includes the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Armaments Center, based at Picatinny Arsenal.

Women's Tennis Dominates Binghamton, 7-0
The NJIT women's tennis team picked up its third straight victory with a dominant 7-0 shutout against Binghamton Saturday afternoon at the Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility. The win - NJIT's first of the spring and second of the year after shutting out Southeastern Louisiana in November - was the team's most decisive victory of the season. The Highlanders won each flight in straight sets and kept Binghamton from winning more than two games in any set the entire match.
