Artificial Intelligence Pushes Internet Device CPUs Outside the Box
The energy usage of 75 billion Internet-connected devices could be reduced 1,000-fold if those devices could do more thinking for themselves rather than constantly asking cloud servers for help, computer engineering Assistant Professor Shaahin Angizi believes. Artificial intelligence will be the application driving this need in such devices by the second half of the 2020s, not just in devices like Amazon Alexa but in everyday objects at home, work, your car and in industry.

El Consejo de Liderazgo Hispano y Latinx (con siglas en inglés HLLC) organizó el primer Café y Conexiones de este año académico para poner en marcha las celebraciones del Mes de la Herencia Hispana en NJIT. NJIT Researchers Unlock a New Method for Testing Protein-Based Drugs
New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) researchers have unveiled a new lab technique they say represents a “paradigm shift” in how pharmaceutical laboratories test and produce new protein-based drugs, such as therapeutic monoclonal antibodies being developed to treat a variety of diseases, from cancers to infectious diseases.

It's common for the best NJIT students and faculty to receive accolades in their fields, but the latest recognition for Highlander success was awarded to a university finance leader. The NJIT men's and women's cross country teams returned to action after a two week layoff to compete at Central Connecticut State's annual Ted Owen Invitational at Stanley Quarter Park. Men's Tennis Wraps Up Outstanding Opening Weekend with Several Championship Victories
The NJIT men's tennis team kicked off its Fall 2022 schedule in style this weekend, winning several championships at the St. Joes Invitational, which took place from Friday through Sunday on the campus of St. Joseph's University. "What an incredible weekend of tennis!" exclaimed second-year Head Coach Marco Matteucci. "I'm so proud of everyone's effort this weekend and I really feel like we earned every win."

Women's Volleyball Dominates Hartford for Second-Straight Victory
The NJIT women's volleyball team won its second-straight match on Friday evening, defeating Hartford to improve to 3-1 at the Wellness and Events Center this season. After needing five sets to defeat Iona on Wednesday, the Highlanders dominated from start to finish against Hartford to win in three sets and give them their first back-to-back wins since 2018.

NJIT, Ben-Gurion University Unveil Home of Institute for Future Technologies
New Jersey Institute of Technology and Israel's Ben-Gurion University of the Negev officially opened a research center, the Institute for Future Technologies, located in the NJIT @JerseyCity satellite location. Although the Institute and research there began last year, the opening ceremony only happened now due to pandemic-related delays.

The Hispanic and Latinx Leadership Council (HLLC) held Café y Conexiones to kick off this year’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations at NJIT. Launched in January 2022, Café y Conexiones brings together NJIT’s Hispanic and Latinx students with HLLC members, alumni, and business and civic leaders in the Hispanic and Latinx communities on a regular basis during the academic year.

Ying Wu College of Computing Shatters Enrollment Records in Fall 2022
Ying Wu College of Computing (YWCC) continues its upward trajectory as an NJIT enrollment leader, achieving a 17% increase relative to last year for a total of almost 4,100 students enrolled for the Fall 2022 semester. As such, YWCC now represents 34% of the entire NJIT student body for the new academic year. Close to 23% of YWCC students are women, up from 21% two years ago.
