Mohammad Arif Hossain - ECE PhD Student of the Month - November 2021
Mohammad Arif Hossain is a Ph.D. candidate at the Helen and John C. Hartmann Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). He is currently working under the supervision of Distinguished Professor, Dr. Nirwan Ansari. His research areas include Cloud and Edge Computing, Distributed Machine Learning, Future Generation Wireless Networks, etc. Mr. Hossain has published several research articles in Q1 journals such as IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing, Sensors, etc., and conferences.

Tuchman School of Management Hosting 2022 Decision Science Conference
Business majors, along with anyone interested in the theory and technology of organizational leadership, may attend the Northeast Decision Sciences Institute Annual Conference hosted by NJIT's Martin Tuchman School of Management in April 2022. The event formed in 1972 and moves around the Northeast, but has never been in Newark until now, explained T. Homer Bonitsis, associate professor of finance in the Tuchman school and event program chair.

New Industrial Engineering Lab, Courtesy of Dieter Weissenrieder '76 and Family, Raises NJIT's Game
A game-changing gift from an NJIT alumnus and his family is providing the university’s industrial engineering students an indispensable opportunity: the experience of a small-scale version of a factory floor right here on campus. The newly created engineering lab will give students hands-on expertise in machining, process automation, process control inspection and quality control. At its center is a small-scale automated manufacturing system capable of converting raw materials into finished and inspected parts.

NJIT-Led Team Wins a $1.25 Million Grant to Ensure Women Scholars Flourish as Inventors
Women’s ingenuity dots the human landscape, from the external fire escape, to the word processor, to the first dishwashing machine to replace scrubbers with water pressure, to Kevlar, the lightweight, but supremely strong fiber used in bulletproof vests. And yet statistics show that too few of their ideas successfully navigate the journey from concept to product. Indeed, some don’t make it over the early hurdles. Men with doctorates in STEM fields, for example, are nearly twice as likely to hold at least one patent as their female counterparts.

Tobiloba Fashae Comes to NJIT For Industrial Design, Supercars and Yo-Yos
Tobiloba Fashae knew he wanted to learn how to design the technology of the future while still attending Hunterdon Regional High School. At first, it was automotive engineering since he’s an avid fan of high-performance sports cars. During an isolated year of self-reflection in his senior year of high school, he found his calling in industrial design. Now, he’s a freshman at NJIT’s Hillier College of Architecture and Design and an Albert Dorman Honors Scholar.

NJIT Student Bottle Rockets Soar Where No Highlander Has Gone Before
Mibrar Reza and Adam Tracy — following the spirit of Verne, von Braun, NASA and Musk — were the first-place winners of this semester's inaugural NJIT Makerspace Soda Bottle Rocket Competition, charting unexplored regions of Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium with water-powered flights of 227 and 250 feet, respectively.

Minority Engineer Recognizes NJIT as a 'Top 20 University'
New Jersey Institute of Technology is among Minority Engineer magazine’s “Top 20 Universities” for 2021. The selection is based on a survey of the publication’s readers on the diversity of the curriculum, student body and faculty and the diversity and inclusivity of the learning environment. The readers are engineering students and professionals who identify as minorities. Other honorees this year include Massachusetts Institute of Technology, California Institute of Technology and Harvard University.
