NJIT Ranks in Top 2% Nationwide in College Salary Report by Payscale
Payscale has released its 2019 College Salary Report and New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has placed #53 out of over 4,000 colleges and universities across the U.S. in the mid-career salary rankings. In addition, NJIT is #1 for state schools in mid-career salary.

Inspiring Students From NJIT to Africa
Finding Keith Williams in a classroom isn’t unusual. He’s taught at NJIT for years, but this summer he taught somewhere quite different. Williams traveled more than 7,400 miles to teach at ZCAS University in Zambia, invited by the Zambian government to teach a course on mobile technology and set up a degree program to help students develop software solutions.

Remora fishes are famed hitchhikers of the marine world, possessing high-powered suction disks on the back of their head for attaching themselves in torpedo-like fashion to larger hosts that can provide food and safety — from whales and sharks to boats and divers.

NJIT Breaks Records for Incoming Freshman Class: A Look at the Numbers
This fall semester, NJIT welcomes 1,369 freshmen to campus, an increase of 6% over last year and a university record to boot. NJIT also realized a record in the total number of freshman applications received, up 11% as compared to 2018, with 9,047 students seeking enrollment at the university. Other best-ever figures include this year’s freshman class average SAT score of 1297 and average GPA of 3.60. Thirty-one percent of the students ranked in the top 10% of their high school class, 10 were valedictorians and 6 were salutatorians.

The Hearst Foundations Promote Diversity in NJIT's Undergraduate Research Community
A five-woman team of undergraduate engineering students is tackling a problem experienced by a diverse and growing population: balance instability. For the elderly, people recovering from strokes and accidents or those living with disorders that affect movement, such as Parkinson’s disease, falls present the risk of grave injury. With funding from the Hearst Foundations, the team is taking aim at the mechanics that lie at the heart of the problem, determining with precision – and on a step-by-step basis – when, where and how an individual loses stability.

NJIT Implements Rising Scholars Program to Help Freshman Students Acclimate to College
As part of its commitment to prepare students from the city of Newark for higher education, New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has developed the Rising Scholars mentoring program, effective this fall semester. The program, a collaboration of the university’s Offices of Persistence (under Enrollment Management), Financial Aid and Dean of Students, will provide guidance in navigating the college experience, as well as paid employment through Federal Work-Study.

Math Success Initiative Holds True to Its Name
It was an intense seven-week program of math enrichment in algebra, pre-calculus and calculus, coupled with college and SAT prep, and on-campus recreation. When it concluded Aug. 9 at a ceremony in the Campus Center Atrium, the 35 rising 12th-graders who participated in the inaugural NJIT/Newark Math Success Initiative (MSI) looked back on their accomplishments with pride and happily accepted their certificates of achievement.
