NJIT picked up its first road win of the season, led by a season-best 21 points from graduate student Tatianna Torres in the Highlanders' 72-51 victory at LIU Brooklyn in women's basketball non-conference action at the Steinberg Center Sunday afternoon. NJIT (2-8) snaps a three-game skid while LIU Brooklyn (0-9) remains winless on the season. NJIT led 21-20 at the end of the first quarter and held the home team to single digits (six) in the second quarter, taking a 38-25 advantage heading into the half.

The New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII), an NJIT Corporation, hosted Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Director Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CEBR), Peter Marks M.D., Ph.D., at a roundtable with biopharma industry leaders in early December. Dr. Marks is responsible for assuring the safety and effectiveness of biological products, including vaccines, allergenic products, blood and blood products, and cellular, tissue and gene therapies. FDA colleagues joining Dr. Marks included Senior Advisor for Counterterrorism and Medical Countermeasures, Dr.

Bats and dolphins emit sound waves to sense their surroundings; like a battery, electric fish generate electricity to help them detect motion while burrowed in their refuges; and humans use tiny movements of the eyes to perceive objects in their field of vision. 

NJIT posted 1635 points to win by a whopping 329 points over the 10-team field and second-place Monmouth University (1306). In addition, NJIT's first-year head swimming and diving coach, Ron Farina, was named "Coach of the Meet." The Top-5 was rounded out by Fairfield University (1152.5), Manhattan College (1048) and Lafayette College (945).

Financial technology (FinTech) is a rapidly growing subsector of the financial services industry that applies software tools, networking, user experience, interface platforms, and modern modeling and analytical techniques to improve efficiency and deployment of traditional financial services.

Both on land and in space, Earth’s technology-centered civilization is increasingly vulnerable to the powerful bursts of electromagnetic radiation, energetic charged particles and magnetized plasma known as space weather. As the complexity of engineered systems increases, as new technologies are invented and deployed, and as humans venture ever further beyond Earth’s surface, both human-built systems and humans themselves become more susceptible to the effects of the planet’s space environment.

Last March, Gov. Murphy announced plans for a New Jersey Apprenticeship Network and, following a trip to Germany and Israel last month, launched a $4.5 million apprenticeship grant program supporting the state’s high-demand industries. He did so because he recognized a marketplace need that New Jersey Institute of Technology also has identified and is addressing —the incredible demand for professionals who possess hands-on experience as well as a solid technical background. 

Graduate student Kelly Guarino scored a career-best 26 points and head coach Mike Lane registered his first win as a Division I head coach in NJIT's 79-71 victory over Western Carolina in the NJIT Thanksgiving Classic Saturday afternoon at the Wellness and Events Center. NJIT (1-5) snaps a five-game skid in the win while Western Carolina drops to 1-6 on the young season.
