#NJITSummer Success
As the #NJITSummer comes to a close, so are the internships and research experiences that began just a few short months ago after school let out. The NJIT staff and faculty are proud to see our fellow Highlanders succeed through their internships and real-world experiences.
Here are some of our Highlanders that had a successful #NJITSummer!
Madagascar
Chloe Jelley traveled to Madagascar for the Ants and Canopy Bootcamp run by Dr. Brian Fisher of the California Academy of Sciences. The main goal of her trip was to teach the next generation of myrmecologists canopy sampling techniques. The opportunity was made possible by the Albert Dorman Honors College as well as the Barden Lab of the Department of Biological Sciences, who both assisted in funding her trip.
Lattimore Materials Corporation - Addison, TX
Paul Bosin is a rising junior at NJIT, enrolled in the Concrete Industry Management Program. This #NJITSummer, he spent his time in Texas to work every aspect of the Ready-Mix portion of the concrete industry, anywhere from Dispatch to Quality Control Operations.
Australia
Elvis Alicea is an Environmental Science student who not only studied abroad this summer, but also got the chance to conduct research in Australia! He studied tropical marine biology while over there, and was able to explore the Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia, visit Sydney and other wildlife parks & areas like Rottnest (Quokka Island).
Stryker - Mahwah, NJ
Elijah Mathew spent his summer as a Manufacturing Engineering Intern at Stryker. His duties at his internship were to identify and solve issues within the manufacturing process. He remarked, “This opportunity allows me to use my engineering knowledge to make a difference in the world by improving processes which in turn will improve the lives of many people.”
Karen Ayoub also spent her summer with Stryker, as an Operations Engineering Intern. Her team was responsible for overseeing the production of surgical instruments for joint replacement and trauma surgeries, and she says, “it’s up to engineers like me to make sure surgeons get the quality instruments they need while keeping their business costs low.”
New Jersey Innovation Institute - Newark, NJ
Rucheet Patel is a graduate student here at NJIT, pursuing his Masters in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. This summer, he worked as a summer intern for the New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII), and will start a full-time position as a Project Manager of Biopharma iLab.
Shiseido - New York, NY
Ujjwala Rai is a rising senior Chemical Engineering Major here at NJIT, and learned her experiences through her Quality Control Engineer for Shiseido. She was responsible for overlooking brands like Nars, Laura Mercier, Shisiedo and Clé De Peau Beauté. As a Quality Control Engineer, she was responsible for making sure that all finished products meet the standards of their respective destination countries and FDA, along with all incoming materials meeting production standards.
Vanguard - Valley Forge, PA
Highlanders Lay Gandhi, Vaishnavi Patel, Mohini Desai, and Faiza Musarrat spent their summer as application developer interns at Vanguard.
