Women's Soccer Earns Sixth United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award
For the sixth time in program history (2012, 2014-16, 2019, 2020), the NJIT women's soccer team has been honored by the United Soccer Coaches (USC) with its annual Team Academic Award. The Highlanders were one of 889 total college teams (556 women, 333 men) to earn Team Academic Award accolades. With the men's team also receiving Team Academic Award honors, NJIT was one of 172 schools who had both their men's and women's programs recognized.

Men's Soccer Team Earns United Soccer Conference Academic Honor
The NJIT men's soccer team has been honored by the United Soccer Coaches (USC) with its annual USC Team Academic Awards for the 2019-20 academic year. This is the fifth season (2014, 2015, 2016, 2019, 2020) the Highlanders earn the recognition. NJIT was one of 333 men's programs recognized for the team academic award.

School of Art + Design Adding Online Programs Beginning in Spring 2021
NJIT's School of Art and Design will begin offering graduate study starting next semester. The school within Hillier College of Architecture and Design will offer four certificate programs starting in spring 2021 — Animation; Digital Arts; Game Design and Interactivity; and User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX) — and will also add Master of Science and Master of Fine Arts degrees in Digital Design, most likely beginning next fall, Hillier's academic leaders said.

McNair Students, Unfazed by Disadvantages or COVID, Target Graduate Study
Zara Williams started working here 20 years ago, just after NJIT joined the federal McNair Scholars Program to help underrepresented students achieve graduate degrees, and has now seen 22 students complete their doctorates. "Seems like it went pretty quickly," said Williams, the program's assistant director, in reflecting on her office's success. But she said this year's crop of new students will be especially memorable because of the challenges they face in studying during a pandemic.

Wohn Awarded for Mentoring Women and Minorities in Computing
In a lab dedicated to developing novel technologies for positive social interaction and trying to understand how people use social technologies, such as social media, mobile phones, and multiplayer games, it is the face-to-face, in-person relationships that students have with each other, faculty, and researchers that attracts them and brings them back year after year. Ask Dr. Yvette Wohn what she thinks about that, and she will tell you that she would have it no other way.

Men's Soccer Honored with ASUN Conference Championship Rings
The NJIT Department of Athletics honored the 2019 men's soccer team with a ring ceremony Wednesday, Sept. 16 on Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium to commemorate the team's ASUN Conference Championship this past November. The championship ring ceremony was streamed live on www.NJITHighlanders.com for our loyal Highlander fans.
