Men's Soccer Honored with ASUN Conference Championship Rings

The NJIT Department of Athletics honored the 2019 men's soccer team with a ring ceremony Wednesday, Sept. 16 on Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium to commemorate the team's ASUN Conference Championship this past November.

NJIT men's soccer's historic season culminated with the school's first-ever ASUN Conference Championship in any sport.
In the ASUN Championship game, the top-seeded Highlanders defeated No. 2 FGCU, 2-1. Rising junior and ASUN Tournament Most Valuable Player Regsan Watkins scored the championship-winning goal in the 86th minute of the title match.
With the victory, the Highlanders advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time at the Division I level.
NJIT also captured the ASUN Conference regular season title and garnered four major ASUN Conference Awards: Coach of the Year (Fernando Barboto), Player of the Year (Rene White), Goalkeeper of the Year (Samuel Reisgys) and Rookie of the Year (Alejandro Rabell).
The Highlanders, who finished with a Division I school-record ten wins, ranked in the Top 10 of the United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region poll all season, with its highest ranking coming during the second week of the season (No. 2). NJIT closed the season ranked fifth out of 10 teams.
