NJIT to Welcome PSEG CEO for Climate Change Discussion
On Feb. 12, Ralph Izzo, CEO of PSEG, will come to NJIT and present his approach to tackling climate change and the steps needed in order to advance society to a low- and eventually no-carbon future. The event will be held in Guttenberg Information Technologies Center room 1400 from 2:30-4 p.m. and is open to the public.

Management Graduate Turned Fulbright Scholar Is Conducting Research Abroad
Jenan Abu-Hakmeh’s dream career is in law and public policy, and the May 2019 graduate has got it all mapped out. An Albert Dorman Honors College alumna who majored in business with concentrations in finance and international business and minored in legal studies, she plans to attend law school, practice in the field for several years and then work perhaps as a lobbyist or in a governmental capacity.

NJIT Technology and Society Forum Presents: Smart Cities
Smart Cities is an all-encompassing expression that represents an optimal situation for operating cities while maximizing the benefit to their citizens. A successful Smart Cities approach would also incorporate forward-looking management strategies, such as clean energy. This Technology and Society Forum Presentation, led by Dr. Shihab Kuran, founder of Power Edison, will address how these concepts are implemented throughout the globe with a focus on New Jersey. We will also present case studies of cities, including Newark, New Jersey, that made major strides towards Smart Cities.

Volleyball Extends Wins Streak to Four; Sweeps Visiting St. Francis Brooklyn
The NJIT men's volleyball team extended its win streak to four with a 3-0 sweep over visiting St. Francis Brooklyn Saturday afternoon in non-conference volleyball action inside NJIT's Wellness and Events Center. NJIT picked up its third straight 3-0 victory (def. No. 11 Purdue Fort Wayne; def. Ball State; def St. Francis Brooklyn), improving to 5-2 on the season, marking the best start since the 2008 season.

Q&A With American Chemical Society President Luis Echegoyen
On Feb. 5, NJIT will welcome Luis Echegoyen, 2020 president of the American Chemical Society (ACS), the largest scientific society in the world. As part of the College of Science and Liberal Arts’ Organic Syntheses Distinguished Seminar Speaker series, Echegoyen will speak to the NJIT community to share his experience and research interests over his nearly 50-year career — particularly regarding new possibilities in modern chemical research related to buckyballs, sometimes referred to as "the most magnificent molecule known to man."

2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Update
NJIT Community Members, We would like to share with you some updated information regarding the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, which was declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) a global emergency of international concern on January 30, 2020. NJIT has established a task force to actively monitor updates from the New Jersey Department of Health and the federal Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention regarding the Coronavirus outbreak as well as to provide further updates to the NJIT community when appropriate.

NJIT President Receives Air Force Public Service Medal
At a ceremony in Washington, D.C., NJIT President Joel S. Bloom was presented with the highest level award granted by the Secretary of the Air Force to a non-employee civilian, the Distinguished Public Service Award. The award is presented to those who have personally made a profound contribution on the national level that represents substantial progress to the Air Force mission.

NJIT Experts Presenting AI Answers to Real-World Problems at NYC Forum
Experts in artificial intelligence from the Ying Wu College of Computing will highlight how their work solves real-world problems at a prestigious meeting in New York next week. Three New Members Appointed to NJIT Board of Trustees
New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) announces the appointment of three new members to its Board of Trustees, all of whom have graduated from the university. Joining the Board of Trustees are Richard M. "Rich" Maser '73, Norma J. Clayton '81 and Jim Stamatis '85. In addition to the numerous professional awards each of the appointees have received over their prolific careers, all three hold the distinction of being presented NJIT’s Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award.

NJIT Rated 6th in the Nation for Campus Safety
The Department of Public Safety at NJIT has been ranked sixth nationwide for its campus safety initiatives. The recognition comes from Safe Campus, an independent organization that strives to improve the overall safety and security of U.S. college and university students, and annually rates campuses across the country for their safety measures. 2020 marks the third consecutive year that NJIT placed among the Top 25 of eligible U.S.-accredited higher-education institutions — 4,298 this time around.

NJIT Holds off Florida Gulf Coast for 56-54 Road Win
The NJIT men's basketball team won for the fourth time in five games on Saturday, defeating host Florida Gulf Coast 56-54 in ASUN Conference action in front of 2,843 at Alico Arena. NJIT (7-13, 4-3 ASUN) scored the first 10 points of the game and never trailed, but FGCU (6-16, 3-4 ASUN) was able to claw back and tie the game on three occasions in the second half.
