Firefighting, Fitness, and Furniture Design are Passions for Hillier Freshman
When NJIT industrial design major Christopher Hasenkopf isn't in class this semester, it might be because he's out saving someone's home, office or even their life. His local volunteer fire station in New Providence practically didn't need a dalmatian for their mascot — "I've been going around the station since I moved here when I was three. They had a lot of open houses," he joked. He joined the junior firefighter corps two days after turning 16, which is the earliest age allowed, and entered the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy at 18.

Using the Internet of Things to Teach Computer Science to High School Students
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of billions of devices like cell phones, cars, smart TVs and home alarms connected to the internet. It's also the idea behind the innovative curriculum that Pramod Abichandani and Prateek Shekhar are developing to teach computer science and software engineering to high school students. The Missing Link in COVID Planning is Real-Time, Data-Driven Risk Modeling
Our national COVID-19 policy for reopening the economy is a patchwork of plans with varying mixes of masking, social distancing and testing. What’s missing, as evident in the results of these measures on the ground, is the collective action that unites the strength of government and industry with our nation’s technical prowess.
