Partnerships Flourish in Industrial Affiliates Program
As companies increasingly seek outside help to understand and implement emerging technologies such as data science and artificial intelligence, Ying Wu College of Computing (YWCC) is playing an increasingly broader role in helping companies achieve this goal. YWCC does this through its Industrial Affiliates Program (IAP), a platform to nurture corporate partnerships, providing opportunities for companies, students and faculty in employment, training and joint research and development.

NJIT Sweeps Two-Match Series at Charleston (WV)
The NJIT men's volleyball team swept a two-match EIVA Conference men's volleyball series this weekend at Charleston (WV) with a 3-1 victory over the Golden Eagles Saturday afternoon. With the win, NJIT has won the last five out of six matches, moved to 5-1 in the EIVA and have won three consecutive matches, improving to 5-3 overall. The Golden Eagles stand at 2-4 overall and 2-4 in the EIVA.

Reifschneider, Ocampo Lead Women's Soccer To 3-1 Win Over Drexel
The NJIT women's soccer team kicked off the 2020 season in emphatic fashion, defeating the Drexel Dragons 3-1 Sunday afternoon at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium. The veteran-laden Highlanders (1-0) got surprising contributions from a pair of their freshmen en route to the program's first season opening victory since posting a 3-0 shutout against Wagner Aug. 19, 2016.

Hamilton Hospital Employs Mobile Medical Care Units Developed by NJIT and Collaborators
Partnering with New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) and The Tuchman Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) Hamilton has established a freestanding COVID-19 testing center on its campus that was fashioned from four 40-foot-long, repurposed shipping containers.

Six NJIT Honors College Students Named U.S. Fulbright Semifinalists
NJIT students have broken three university records so far this year in pursuit of Fulbright scholarships, submitting a historic high of 11 applications, followed by another milestone achievement – the elevation of six to the semifinal round, including a first-ever candidate for study in the U.K., one of the most competitive countries.

Industrial Design Program Yields Multi-Dimensional Students and Futures
Elizabeth Spencer ’21 is an industrial design major, member of Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and the current events coordinator for the student run chapter. Spencer was also the first non-architecture student in the role of technical manager with AIAS architecture group who manages the 3D printing lab. As Spencer recounts, “I’ve always loved 3D printing – I have a mini 3D printer and wanted to learn more so I met the person who was the president of AIAS at the coffee shop Mike Chappa.

Men's Volleyball Earns First NVA/AVCA Top-15 Ranking
After a weekend split with No. 11 Penn State, the NJIT men's volleyball team has earned a well-deserved spot in the in the National Volleyball Association (NVA)/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I-II Men's Coaches top-15 poll, marking the first time in program history. In week four, NJIT (3-3) broke into the rankings at No. 15 receiving 29 votes. NJIT opened the 2021 season against Loyola-Chicago and took No. 4 Lewis to five sets as the Flyers prevailed, 3-2.

First-Year Computing Student Learns From COVID Volunteerism
Priscilla Maryanski, a first-year computer science major from Jersey City, was always told that learning by doing was the only way to succeed at college — but at NJIT she discovered a different approach of learning by doing good deeds. Since April 2020, Maryanski has been a volunteer at Erevna, a multinational, student-led organization founded at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic that focuses on community service.

Men's Volleyball Sweeps No. 11 Penn State; Alvaro Gimeno Posts Match-Best 16 Kills
Senior outside hitter Alvaro Gimeno posted a match-best 16 kills, leading visiting NJIT to a 3-0 sweep over No. 11 Penn State Sunday afternoon in EIVA Conference action inside Rec Hall. NJIT and Penn State split the weekend EIVA series as the Nittany Lions defeated NJIT, 3-1 on Saturday while the Highlanders followed up with a dominating performance on Sunday, sweeping Penn State, 3-0 (25-21, 25-22 and 25-9).
