New CIO Wants College Info-Tech to be More Responsive to Modern Needs
Kamalika Sandell, who started earlier this summer as NJIT's chief information officer and vice provost, is settling into her role and looking to make a positive impact. Sandell was previously deputy CIO at American University. She's worked in the information technology field since the 1990s, spent time in the corporate world, earned a master's in organizational development and speaks three languages.

NJIT Athletics to Honor 2019 ASUN Men's Soccer Champions in Ring Ceremony September 16
The NJIT Department of Athletics will honor the 2019 men's soccer team with a ring ceremony on Wednesday, September 16 on Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium to commemorate the team's ASUN Conference Championship this past November. The championship ring ceremony will begin at 3pm, which will be streamed live for free on www.NJITHighlanders.com.

CyberCorps Graduate Student Offers Insight to Security of Video Chat Apps
The year 2020 will be remembered in software circles as the time when video conferencing became mainstream because of health risks associated with COVID-19, so NJIT graduate student Ramon Salvador decided to learn about video conferencing security for his final project, a requirement of Ying Wu College of Computing’s CyberCorps Scholarship for Service program.

New Residence Hall to Feature Single Bedrooms and Sustainable Construction
NJIT's new 500-bed apartment-style residence hall, announced early this year for the southwest corner of Warren and Wickliff streets, will emphasize single-occupancy bedrooms and will be constructed with environmentally-friendly methods. The community is scheduled for its groundbreaking in the second quarter of 2021 and opening in fall 2022. A name is not yet selected. It's temporarily called Vue on Warren in a slide show from the developer.

Computing Student Wins Fulbright Award for Security Research
Matthew Cherrey never traveled overseas — no high school trip to Europe, no semester abroad as an undergrad, no spring breaks in exotic, far away locales — but he always wanted to do so, particularly to Germany where his family has roots. Now he's getting an opportunity, representing NJIT next year as a Fulbright Research Award Scholar.

On Friday, August 14, 2020, the Leir Research Institute (LRI) at the Martin Tuchman School of Management (MTSM) hosted its annual conference titled “Disruptive Technologies, Regulations, Business - Implications in the BioTech Industry,” where academics, students, and industry professionals gathered to explore disruptive technologies and business solutions to address the prevailing health and societal issues of the day.
