NJIT's Julie Ancis Featured in New Documentary Exploring Social Media 'Vitriol'
Vitriol — it’s not hard to find anywhere you look across Twitter, Reddit, Facebook and elsewhere online. The growing dilemma of our polarizing online discourse is also now the subject of a new documentary set to hit film festivals, featuring NJIT Cyberpsychology Director Julie Ancis.

Hudson County Community College and NJIT Create Transfer Agreement for Business Degrees
A new agreement between Hudson County Community College (HCCC) and NJIT will allow for seamless transfer of students into NJIT's Martin Tuchman School of Management. The articulation agreement, signed Tuesday, July 27 in HCCC's Culinary Conference Center, allows students who earn an Associate of Science in Business Administration degree at HCCC to transfer into NJIT's Bachelor of Science degree programs in Business, Business Online Accelerated Entrepreneurship, and Financial Technology—FinTech.

Jason Munsch Named Head Cross Country/Track & Field Coach
Assistant Vice President and Director of Athletics Lenny Kaplan has announced the hiring of Jason Munsch as NJIT's new Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach. Munsch will replace former head coach Al Alonso, who has stepped down after 18 years at the helm of the program.

Online commerce giant Amazon recently acquired Wickr, a secure messaging company founded at NJIT in 2011 that's known for its focus on corporate and military customers, and will integrate the technology into its Amazon Web Services portfolio.

NJIT’s Center for Solar-Terrestrial Research and National Solar Observatory announce construction to bring NSF’s SOLIS facility to Big Bear Solar Observatory, paving the way for decades of richer observations of the Sun and explosive space weather events.

In an NJIT First, Engineering Student Ayushi Sangoi Wins a Coveted Tau Beta Pi Graduate Fellowship
Ayushi Sangoi ’20, a Ph.D. candidate who uses neuroimaging and eye movement-tracking equipment to discover connections between brain injuries and eye disorders was awarded a highly competitive graduate fellowship from Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honor society. The biomedical engineer is the first NJIT graduate student to receive one. Sangoi was among 28 awardees, selected from a field of 336 applicants, who were commended for their academic achievements, campus leadership and service, and anticipated contributions to their fields. Fellows receive a $10,000 stipend.

The graduating Class of 2021 was honored and feted in all of the ways possible; they walked across the stage in caps and gowns and were acknowledged in person by remarks from the Dean followed by a return to Weston Hall for a reception and balloon release, and then joined again for a virtual celebration awards ceremony and showcasing their work, with family and friends invited.

Federal funding supporting New Jersey’s “Opportunity Meets Innovation” higher education challenge will introduce Newark high school students to forensic science as a pathway to college – and a STEM education – under a new program from New Jersey Institute of Technology.

From Congo to Columbia, Engineering Grad Perseveres for Her PhD
Daniela Bushiri, NJIT Class of 2021, has not been in the U.S. for long – about five years. In that time, she graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in chemical engineering, a minor in Applied Mathematics, and is now taking her talents to Columbia University in the fall where she will research alternative energy in pursuit of a Ph.D. She is an Albert Dorman Scholar, a McNair Scholar, a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow, and a member of the National Society of Black Engineers.

Marina Arrese Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Recognition
NJIT junior women's fencer Marina Arrese has been named as a First-Team selection on the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 2 Women's At Large Team the organization announced on Thursday. Arrese, from Madrid, Spain, was named to the Dean's List for six semesters and carried a 4.0 grade point average, graduating in three years with a business degree.

STEM Innovation Academy Graduates Coming to NJIT
The inaugural class at the STEM Innovation Academy of the Oranges held a graduation ceremony on June 25 at the NJIT Campus Center, capping four years of cooperation between Orange Public Schools and NJIT's Center for Pre-College Programs (CPCP) that aims to create a pathway to college for students historically underrepresented in technical majors and careers. Every student in the class of 2021 has been accepted to college, including five who will start at NJIT in the fall.

NJIT senior forward Rene White has been named to the 2020-21 CoSIDA NCAA Division I Academic All-America first team the CoSIDA Academic All-America program announced on Monday. The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Graduate Certificates Enable Easy Transition into Computing M.S. Programs
With computing playing an ever-increasing role in how companies operate, and the high demand for skilled computing professionals, people with no previous college or work experience in computing are applying to Ying Wu College of Computing (YWCC) to pursue graduate degree in one of the college’s M.S. programs. Thanks to its several graduate certificate programs, YWCC students new to academic coursework in computing are able to acquire the core skills and experience that they will need to be successful in their chosen M.S. degree program.

Men's Swimming and Diving Honored by CSCAA as Scholar All-America Team
The NJIT men's swimming and diving program was once again honored by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as one of the 426 overall institutions and 110 Division I men's programs to earn Scholar All-America team honors for the spring semester.

NJIT Alumnus Alvaro Gimeno Signs Professional Contract to Play Volleyball in Spain
Former NJIT men's volleyball standout Alvaro Gimeno announced on Wednesday, June 23 that he has signed a contract to play professional volleyball for Rio Duero Soria volleyball club in Spain.
