NJIT Co-Hosts 2021 Forensic Science Summit for the Criminal Defense Bar
This March 23-25, New Jersey Institute of Technology is set to join the Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers of New Jersey (ACDL-NJ) and New Jersey State Office of the Public Defender (NJOPD) in co-hosting the 2021 Forensic Science Summit for the Criminal Defense Bar — the leading annual forensic science conference for New Jersey’s defense attorneys and investigators. The three-day virtual event, via Zoom, promises a unique venue for exploring the rapidly evolving world of forensic science that is shaping criminal defense proceedings in courtrooms today.

Tevogen Bio Partners With BioCentriq to Enhance Development Capacity of T Cell Therapy for COVID-19
Tevogen Bio announces partnership with BioCentriq, New Jersey Innovation Institute’s pioneering cell and gene therapy center, to support clinical manufacturing of Tevogen’s investigational COVID-19 treatment. Under the partnership, experts from both entities will collaborate at BioCentriq’s state-of-the art GMP facilities to produce Tevogen’s proprietary COVID-19 targeted T cells. The teams will utilize the processes and technology required to ensure that all quality standards are met in the large scale manufacturing of Tevogen’s clinical grade, allogeneic T-cell therapy.

NJIT and Ben-Gurion University of the Negev Launch New Institute for Future Technologies
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, President Daniel Chamovitz of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU) and President Joel S. Bloom of New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) have unveiled a partnership that will create a world-class Institute for Future Technologies in New Jersey. Two powerhouse universities in the fields of cyber technologies and environmental engineering will come together to offer dual degrees and exciting new research opportunities. The Institute looks forward to receiving support and seed funding from the State of New Jersey.

New Study Shows Microplastics Turn Into 'Hubs' for Pathogens, Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria
It’s estimated that an average-sized wastewater treatment plant serving roughly 400,000 residents will discharge up to 2,000,000 microplastic particles into the environment each day. Yet, researchers are still learning the environmental and human health impact of these ultra-fine plastic particles, less than 5 millimeters in length, found in everything from cosmetics, toothpaste and clothing microfibers, to our food, air and drinking water.

No. 11 Men's Volleyball Keeps Rolling with Ninth Straight Win
NJIT men's volleyball won its ninth straight match of the season with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-18) victory at Sacred Heart Saturday evening in EIVA Conference men's volleyball action. No. 11 NJIT recorded its third straight 3-0 sweep, won its ninth straight match, improved to 11-3 overall and 11-1 in the EIVA. The 11-3 start for the Highlanders is the best start since 2007 when the Highlanders started off the season 10-4.

Men's Tennis Wins Again, Improves to 3-0
The NJIT men's tennis team improved its season-opening win streak to three on Sunday, defeating host Bucknell 5-2 at the Central Pennsylvania Tennis Center. The Highlanders are 3-0 on the season, while the Bison dropped to 1-2. "It was great to pick up our first road win," explained Head Coach Ira Miller. "We took the momentum with the doubles point and closed out nicely in four of the six singles matches."

NJIT is a Hub of Additive Manufacturing Innovation
High-tech hip and knee implants that not only return immobile people to walking, but to the tennis court. 3D printed models of patients’ anatomy that allow physicians to plan and practice complex operations in advance. Novel peptide-based hydrogels, also bioprinted, that are injected, self-reassemble in tissue spaces and deliver drugs and other small cargo over days and months. Looking ahead, but perhaps not too far, fully functional, human-scale tissues and organs that are capable of replacing failed organs.

Kalafer Family Continues University Support Through Endowed Scholarship
Business leader, entrepreneur, and minor league baseball team owner Steven B. Kalafer HON ’20 and his wife Suzanne have made a million dollar gift to endow a scholarship that will support students throughout their pursuit of an undergraduate degree at the university. The new Kalafer Family Scholarship will pay tuition, room and board, and associated fees for high-achieving student-athletes who have demonstrated financial need.

NJIT's class of 2020 substantially found full-time employment despite the COVID-19 pandemic, with 95% either starting a full-time job or pursuing further education and other opportunities, newly released data from the university's Career Development Services indicates.

Luca Berger Selected EIVA Defensive Player of the Week
Graduate student Luca Berger has been selected EIVA Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week the league office announced on Monday. In a 2-0 week for No. 12 NJIT, Berger averaged 1.86kps, .435 H% and 2.00blk as the Highlanders completed an EIVA weekend sweep at No. 14 George Mason.

NJIT Moves Up to No. 11 in Week 7 NVA/AVCA Coaches Poll
The NJIT men's volleyball program moved up one spot to No. 11 in the recent National Volleyball Association (NVA)/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I-II Men's Coaches top-15 poll the organization announced on Monday. Previously ranked No. 12, NJIT moved up one spot after a weekend EIVA road series sweep at No. 14 George Mason. NJIT, which has won seven in a row (the most victories in a row since 2017), improved to 9-3 overall and 9-1 in the EIVA.

NJII Leadership Change
NJIT/NJII community members, I am writing today to announce a reconfiguring of the leadership and structure of the New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII) and VentureLink at NJIT. NJII will serve as the umbrella organization within which VentureLink will be housed, and Simon Nynens will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Don Sebastian will continue as President of NJII. In addition, Simon and Craig Gottsman, Dean of the Ying Wu College of Computing, will be nominated to become members of the NJII Board.

NJIT Community Members, Alumni and Friends, It is my pleasure to share with you news that NJIT now is ranked by U.S. News and World Report among the top 100 National Universities. The 2020 edition of the annual ranking lists NJIT at #97 in the nation after rising nearly 50 places during the last two years. NJITalso was ranked #41 overall on the “Best Value Schools” list and #43 among “Top Public Schools.” Additionally, NJIT is ranked within the top 100 undergraduate engineering programs in the nation.
