The Art of War: Engineering Protective Gear for 21st Century Soldiers
Battle-inflicted head injuries are as old as war itself, evidenced by the copper helmets worn by Bronze Age soldiers to deflect blows from spears and axes. Over the ensuing millennia, as weapons evolved, so did armor. Today, the powerful explosive devices of 21st century warfare have once again raised the stakes, prompting urgent calls to re-engineer protective gear.

Delving Deeper into the Circadian Rhythms of Life

Is the Cooperative Economy Next in a Post-Consumer World?
For a significant part of the 20th century, the Manufacturing Economy generated unprecedented material prosperity in the United States. Prime Time
Contrary to popular belief, the world of interior design isn’t all pillow fluffing, couch shopping and paint sampling. “Sure, it’s a part of the job, but it goes far beyond that,” insists Elouie Gaspar. “I feel like anyone can decorate, but not everyone has the skills to design a space. We care about the infrastructure of the building. We care about plumbing. We care about electrical. It’s not just about does this couch go with this wall.” Destined for Design

Coastal Perspectives — Studying Forces That Affect Life Where Land and Water Meet
Land lies in water; it is shadowed green. Shadows, or are they shallows, at its edges showing the line of long sea-weeded ledges where weeds hang to the simple blue from green. Or does the land lean down to lift the sea from under, drawing it unperturbed around itself? Along the fine tan sandy shelf is the land tugging at the sea from under? — From “The Map” by Elizabeth Bishop
