Structural Analysis of Biomedical Ontologies Center of NJIT Hosts Workshop

The Structural Analysis of Biomedical Ontologies Center (SABOC) at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) hosted the Ontology Quality Assurance Grant Workshop 2018, a two-day seminar on medical informatics research, on June 25 and 26.

SABOC at NJIT is devoted to exploring structural issues in biomedical ontologies, with specific interests in ontology quality assurance methodologies, ontology summarization techniques, ontology change analysis and analysis of families of ontologies. SABOC has established a strong research record on the design of structural techniques for partitioning, abstraction and quality assurance of medical terminologies.

The workshop featured research presentations from current SABOC students, grant researchers and Ph.D. graduates of NJIT to discuss new concepts and findings in the medical ontology field. Also in attendance was Dr. Mark Musen, a renowned Stanford professor and leader in medical informatics, and consultant for NJIT’s $1,750,000 National Institutes of Health grant.
