These 4 Honors Freshmen Span the Country
This year’s Albert Dorman Honors College (ADHC) freshman class has already set records. The group is 43 percent female, includes 13 New Jersey Medical School students and boasts an average SAT score of 1475. Aside from these fantastic figures, the incoming class is noteworthy for its geography. A sizable number of students are coming to NJIT from outside New Jersey, some from as far away as California. From Undergrad to Graduate: Students are Advancing Their Education at NJIT
According to a 2018 snapshot of graduate education in New Jersey, from the Council of Graduate Schools, more than 45,000 students were enrolled in graduate study, over 17,000 of whom were in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). At NJIT, 25 percent of the university’s student population is pursuing graduate degrees in a variety of academic disciplines. In fact, NJIT offers some 50 master’s programs (including online programs), 19 Ph.D.

For This Mechanical Engineering Graduate, NJIT Roots Run Deep
When NJIT’s Center for Pre-College Programs held its annual closing ceremony for the Bernard Harris Summer STEM Camp (BHSSC) this past July, an unplanned reunion made the event all the more sweet. Damilola Ojoye ’18, a participant of the very first camp in 2007, was in attendance to witness the campers’ presentations, and wound up reconnecting with Bernard Harris, who was there as well.

NJIT Among the 'Best' in Money Magazine Rating of Colleges Nationwide
MONEY Magazine has recently named NJIT as one of the best colleges in America. In building the rankings, MONEY focused on three basic factors that surveys show are the most important to students: quality of education, affordability and alumni outcomes. The rankings analyzed data points, such as graduation rates, tuition charges, family borrowing and alumni earnings (plus 22 additional data points) to find the country’s top values.

Silver Star Status Awarded to NJIT's National Society of Collegiate Scholars Chapter
The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS), the only honor society to recognize outstanding academic achievement among first- and second-year college students, has designated the chapter at NJIT as a Silver Star Chapter for the 2017-2018 academic year. The acknowledgement distinguishes the chapter among the more than 320 NSCS chapters throughout the country, and stems from its leadership in implementing engaging, student-centered events both on campus and in the community.

A robotic fleet built to penetrate dark and narrow cave passages, cellular studies into alcohol’s role in hastening neurodegeneration in people with HIV, plants that absorb pernicious pollutants from the air and new methods for eliminating noise from data searches are a few of the research projects that drew students back to campus laboratories this summer.

Next Wave of Solar Development Gets Strong Start at Brightfields 2018
The New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII), a New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) corporation, in conjunction with Brownfields Listings sponsored Brightfields 2018, a one day, national solar energy development event at the campus of NJIT in late June. Over 150 registered attendees and a robust walk-in crowd gathered on the campus for the dynamic solar development gathering.

What a Day! A Senator, Mayor, Congressman and CEO Visit NJIT
NJIT welcomed several special guests to campus Aug. 7 for a showcase representing the culmination of the Ras Baraka Coding Institute (BCI) at NJIT, part of the Newark Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). The program offers participants work experience with a summer income while teaching them valuable employment skills. More than 3,000 students take part every year, 40 of whom have spent this summer at the university immersed in either coding or architecture (the latter through NJIT’s Newark Beautification Community Gardens Initiative).
