More than 50 NJIT alumni hosted President Bloom at Stryker headquarters in Mahwah, N.J. on Sept. 11. The event marked the fifth time Stryker engaged with NJIT this year. Previous engagements included a Stryker campus tour and basketball game, a lecture at Stryker headquarters by Dr. Treena Arinzeh, biomedical professor, and visits from students in the pre-college program and Biomedical Engineering Club.

NJIT men's volleyball rising sophomore Alvaro Gimeno competed with the U20 Spain National Team at the 2018 CEV U20 Volleyball European Championships. Alvaro, the reigning Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Newcomer of the Year, joined the U20 Spain National Team at the end of May.  Spain recorded a second-place finish after the first two qualifying rounds.  "It was an amazing experience at the 2018 CEV U20 Volleyball European Championships, playing against some of the best players in the world and some of NCAA's best athletes," Gimeno commented.

As towering cranes and forklifts shuttled brightly colored containers from ships to trucks in Port Newark-Elizabeth Marine Terminal last week, Cameron Bennett ’22 was also busy inside the port loading human-scale cargo to go back out to sea.

Recently, NJIT announced that this fall it will begin offering New Jersey’s first Bachelor of Science program in forensic science. This first-of-its-kind degree program will fulfill a critically important and unmet need for New Jersey’s students and its forensic science community. The 120-credit degree will represent the only undergraduate program in the New York metropolitan region designed from its outset to meet the rigorous standards set by the leading accrediting body in this important field, the Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission (FEPAC).

Before Jonathan Lewis arrived at NJIT to study biomedical engineering, he had already earned five college credits — two after completing the university’s Management 190 course and three after finishing its Fundamentals of Engineering and Design 101. He was then a student at St. Benedict’s Prep, participating in the Center for Pre-College Programs’ (CPCP) Academy College Courses for High School Students.

Redshirt sophomore Rene White scored the lone goal of the match and goalkeeper Victor Pujades notched his first shutout of the season in NJIT's 1-0 victory over Sacred Heart in the season opener for both teams at Kean University East Campus Facility Friday evening. New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), one of the nation's leading public polytechnic universities, is proud to announce that Simon Nynens will join NJIT on Sept. 4, 2018, as Vice President of Business Incubation and Executive Director of Commercialization. Within the fast-evolving commercial ecosystem of the greater New York City and New Jersey metro region, Nynens will be charged with developing and expanding a suite of programs that spur innovation commercialization services and entrepreneurship in the U.S. and globally.

NJIT Community Members, Welcome back to another new academic year! This always is a time filled with anticipation and excitement. It’s also a time for connecting with new additions to our community and reconnecting with those who may have been away for the summer months.

This year’s Albert Dorman Honors College (ADHC) freshman class has already set records. The group is 43 percent female, includes 13 New Jersey Medical School students and boasts an average SAT score of 1475. Aside from these fantastic figures, the incoming class is noteworthy for its geography. A sizable number of students are coming to NJIT from outside New Jersey, some from as far away as California.   Let’s meet a few of ADHC’s newest out-of-state students. KRISTEN ABRAHAM
