Joel S. Bloom, president of NJIT, joined Bloomberg's Businessweek podcast to discuss the opening of a mobile medical care unit to aid in fighting COVID-19, as well as NJIT's response to the pandemic.

African-American students, backed by members of the faculty, said they will look to the college administration for help enacting new measures that could lead to more opportunities for Black people in NJIT classrooms and beyond. The ideas, expressed in two virtual forums this month as part of a campus reaction to the Black Lives Matter movement, include creating a university task force on racism that would involve student members, forming a required class or seminar to educate new students on inclusion and actively increasing the number of Black professors.

Associate Professor Hyojin Kim has distinguished herself in a number of ways since she joined the Hillier College of Architecture and Design in fall of 2019. She came to NJIT with a research project funded by the National Center for Preservation Technology and Training (NCPTT) within the U.S. Department of the Interior. This research aims to develop a new field toolkit and methodology for evaluating the Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) performance of historic buildings for their sustainable and effective reuse, while preserving the integrity and fabric of historic buildings.

Cape May's new Harriet Tubman Museum, which is hosting virtual openings this year due to COVID-19 and plans to open conventionally in spring 2021, has a touch of Highlander inside.

Last summer 35 11th-graders from four Newark high schools — Central, Malcolm X Shabazz, Science Park and Technology — participated in a seven-week enrichment program as part of the inaugural Math Success Initiative (MSI), an academic partnership between NJIT, the city of Newark and the Newark Board of Education (NBOE).
