Men's and Women's Cross Country Earn Spot on NCAA DI All-Academic List
The NJIT men's and women's cross country teams were named to the NCAA Division I All-Academic team list for the 2017 season. To be named to the list both teams needed to post at least a cumulative team GPA of 3.0. The men's cross country team recorded a 3.13 GPA while the women's team had a 3.62 GPA. It's All Hands on Deck at the WEC for Spring Career Fair
In just a few days, NJIT will welcome employers from as far away as California, Colorado, Arizona and Texas, and debut the Wellness and Events Center (WEC) as the new home for Career Development Services’ (CDS) career fairs. Yes, those seeking jobs along with those needing to fill them will all flock to the recently opened WEC on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., for the Spring 2018 Career Fair.

NJIT Showcases History of Science and Engineering with 'Distributed Technology Museum'
On the third floor of Fenster Hall, visitors can find a rich collection of landmark science and engineering artifacts that resemble a technological time capsule of the past 100 years. The iconic 1984 Apple Macintosh Plus, a 1950s suitcase-type Geiger counter, a 1954 wood-encased Seederer-Kohlbusch scale and 1947 Bausch & Lomb optical microscope — all historical scientific equipment once used at NJIT that is now being protected and displayed as part of university’s growing museum project, called the “NJIT Distributed Technology Museum.”

Men's Tennis Opens Spring Campaign 3-0; Tops Visiting Fairleigh Dickinson, 6-1
The NJIT men's tennis team opened its spring campaign with a 3-0 record, topping visiting Fairleigh Dickinson, 6-1, Sunday afternoon at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility. NJIT, winners of its first three matches of the 2018 season, won five-out-of-six singles matches and earned the doubles point, with wins at second and third doubles to secure the 6-1 victory.

Women's Volleyball Adds Jabarry Goodridge as New Assistant Coach
Jabarry Goodridge, a 2017 NJIT graduate and two-time AVCA All-American selection, joined the NJIT women's volleyball coaching staff in January 2018 as an assistant coach head. A four-year starter for the men's volleyball program, Goodridge, from Bridgetown, Barbados, compiled 1,259 kills, averaging 3.98 per set, along with 104 service aces, 366 digs, 122 blocks and 1,450 total points.

NJIT SAAC to Hold Project Life Movement Swab Drive
The NJIT Athletic Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is teaming up with Project Life Movement Feb. 19-20 to hold a Swab Drive in support of increasing the number of potential bone marrow donors nationwide. The Swab Drive will be held Monday, Feb. 19, and Tuesday, Feb. 20, from 11:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Registration will take place in the first floor lobby of the Wellness and Events Center by the multipurpose room. Jordan Hu ’89 never imagined that one day he could start a company in the U.S., especially on Wall Street, but after he worked at Salomon Brothers and Goldman Sachs for almost 10 years, he started to see entrepreneurship opportunities. However, due to risk and financial responsibilities at home, he never made up his mind to do it until Salomon Brothers shut down its arbitrage trading desk, which was the group where he was working.

NJIT Student Wins First Place in Newark Innovation Acceleration Challenge Competition
Mark Quiles '18, a finance and marketing major, won first place in the Newark Innovation Acceleration Challenge student competition sponsored by NJIT, Capital One and the Greater Newark Enterprises Corporation. Michael A. Ehrlich, associate professor of finance in NJIT's Martin Tuchman School of Management and co-director of the New Jersey Innovation Acceleration Center, emceed the event.

Interning at PSE&G has proven both professionally and financially fruitful for NJIT senior Aidan McGourty. Not only did his experience segue into a co-op for the 2017-2018 academic year — and garner him accolades from his supervisor — it also contributed to him winning a $500 NJIT scholarship in a Career Development Services (CDS) contest.

Lewis, Tarke Guide Amazing Comeback at Lipscomb
NJIT junior Abdul Lewis scored a career-high 27 points, leading the Highlanders to an 81-77, come-from-behind victory over Lipscomb at Allen Arena Saturday. Despite the 27 points and his game-highs in rebounds (13) and assists (5), it was the last of his game-high four blocks that saved the day for the Highlanders. NJIT (12-12, 5-4) had trailed by 10 at 77-67 with just 3:35 remaining. The Bisons (15-9, 5-4) never scored again and the Highlanders finished on a 14-0 run to secure a huge road victory. Computing Students Develop App to Enhance NJIT Parking Experience
Ah, the struggles of commuter life. You know, the time-consuming process of gassing up the car, hitting the road and battling rush-hour traffic, only to reach your destination and have to hunt for parking. We’ve all been there. A recent study revealed that motorists waste about 100 hours a year looking for a parking space, which accounts for one-third of city traffic. What’s more, the excess vehicle miles traveled in search of parking has a widespread impact on the environment and increases driver frustration.
