Prudential/NJIT Connection Group Hosts Inaugural Event for Alumni
More than 75 NJIT alumni employed at Prudential gathered on April 5 for the inaugural event of the Prudential/NJIT Connection group, which seeks to provide the company’s employees and NJIT alumni with a platform for internal networking and the opportunity to participate in developments across Prudential, NJIT, and the City of Newark. The newly formed organization will support this through a focus on recruiting, professional development, mentorship and community engagement with the common goal to expand the mutually beneficial relationship between Prudential and NJIT.
Steven B. Saperstein ’84, Chief Operating Officer of PGIM Fixed Income and a member of the NJIT Board of Overseers, said that Prudential will welcome 19 NJIT interns this summer as part of the company’s 10-week Summer Internship Experience. In April 2018, the company was recognized by NJIT’s Career Development Services for the third consecutive year for engaging with students through recruiting and career development initiatives.
“Today is what I hope is the beginning of a very active group,” he said.
The Prudential/NJIT group seeks to identify and grow an engaged community of over 225 NJIT alumni at Prudential; foster collaboration opportunities among Prudential, NJIT and the City of Newark; and to enhance Prudential’s brand as a premier employer of choice through strategic partnerships with NJIT students, professors and faculty.
Following an alumni panel discussion, NJIT President Joel S. Bloom provided an update on the university and new developments in the City of Newark, including the launch of the Phase I Campus Gateway on April 25.
