NJIT Marketing Experts Measure Brain Waves and Skin Current to Predict Emotions
Machines still can’t think, but now they can validate your feelings, based on new research from New Jersey Institute of Technology Assistant Professor Jorge Fresneda.
Fresneda started his career as a chemist and then became an expert in neuroanalytics. He studies how measurements of brain activity and skin conductance can predict a person’s emotions with high accuracy, and how such information can be used in fields such as entertainment, management, marketing and well-being.

US News Ranks NJIT Top 100 in Two Online Master's Programs
New Jersey Institute of Technology continues to be recognized nationally by U.S. News & World Report for its online master’s offerings in information technology, engineering and business.
For 2024, NJIT earned two rankings inside the top 100: No. 31 for its online master’s in information technology and No. 61 for its online master’s in engineering. In addition, the university saw two other online programs make lists for the best in the U.S.: its master’s in business and its MBA.

NJIT’s spring career fair is right around the corner and registration is now open for students on the Handshake platform.
Career Development Services biannual career fair has become one of the most anticipated events for students. The fall semester fair, held last September, was the largest-ever participation: 3,300 students and alumni and 240 companies packed into the WEC and Naimoli Center. The spring fair, now scheduled for March 4 from 11 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., is shaping up to be another packed house.

New NJIT Committee Tackles Gender Imbalance in Faculty
A new committee aims to accelerate gender equity among faculty members at New Jersey Institute of Technology.
The Women Faculty Advisory Committee, chaired by Nancy Steffen-Fluhr, will hold peer forums to examine key issues based on the testimony of junior faculty members. It also intends to poll women faculty to gather quantitative data. Both will fuel an action plan and create a foundation for measuring progress toward faculty gender diversity.
NJIT Top 50 Nationally in Undergrad, Grad Entrepreneur Studies
New Jersey Institute of Technology is now ranked in the top 50 nationwide for both graduate and undergraduate entrepreneurship education, according to a joint survey from Princeton Review and Entrepreneur.
Surveyors ranked NJIT No. 31 in the graduate category, as the only New Jersey institution on the list, and No. 47 in undergraduate studies, from almost 300 universities that reported entrepreneurship data.
NJIT Recognizes and Celebrates Impactful Faculty
New Jersey Institute of Technology’s annual tradition of recognizing university faculty who have excelled as researchers, scholars and instructors took place Oct. 4 in the Central King Building’s Agile Strategy Lab.
“We celebrate the achievements of our faculty and educators here today not because of what they bring to the classroom or the laboratory, but because of the lives they change,” said John Pelesko, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs. “We celebrate their commitment to our common goal of student success and the pursuit of knowledge.”
