NJIT alumna, Adebunmi Gbadebo ‘21, played an important role in the unveiling of the Harriet Tubman Monument, located at the intersection of Washington and Broad Streets, in downtown Newark. 

Gbadebo served as the community engagement apprentice, working closely with Nina Cooke John, the architect and designer of the monument. The monument, titled “Shadow of a Face,” will be the centerpiece of a community gathering space in the recently renamed Harriet Tubman Square. 

Current and future MBA students are in for good news at NJIT's Martin Tuchman School of Management, with the degree requirements being shortened from 48 credits to 36, and with an even stronger emphasis on their forward-looking, technology-focused curriculum.

The changes streamline the program into the nationwide trend of shorter, more affordable paths to graduation, while doubling down on the uniqueness of being part of a public polytechnic institution.

The business publication ROI-NJ recognized four leaders at New Jersey Institute of Technology in its annual lists of higher education influencers, including President Teik C. Lim.

Lim made a list of presidents of New Jersey universities and colleges and the others — Martin Tuchman School of Management Dean Oya Tukel, Albert Dorman Honors College Dean Louis Hamilton and Leir Research Institute for Business, Technology and Society Director Michael Ehrlich — made a list of deans, directors and officials. 

New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has selected John Pelesko to serve as its next provost and senior vice president for academic affairs after a nationwide search. Pelesko, currently the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Delaware (UD), will start on Aug. 1.

The risks of negative side effects from online privacy laws are being studied by researchers in NJIT's Martin Tuchman School of Management and Ying Wu College of Computing, in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon and Cornell universities, based on $1.2 million in National Science Foundation grants.

They want to examine assertions from news and media companies that privacy regulations are hurting ordinary users, because the regulations hamper publishers' financial viability, resulting in lower quality content or even the prospect of none at all.

Two of New Jersey Institute of Technology’s online graduate programs placed among the top 50 in this year's U.S. News & World Report rankings of American universities, with another breaking into the top 100.

NJIT was ranked No. 29 for its information technology programs, a two place jump from last year; and No. 47 for engineering, a 16-place rise. In addition, NJIT’s online master’s business program was ranked No. 95, and the online MBA was No. 132.

All ranked programs saw improved scores over last year, according to the publication.
