April 7-13 is National Volunteer Week, when volunteers nationwide are acknowledged for their service-oriented contributions. The NJIT community remains engaged in a range of giving-back activities, centrally coordinated by Career Development Services.
To help meet its civic and social responsibility goals, the university is a member of Campus Compact, a coalition “focused on teaching, research, and institutional action in service of the public good.”
School of Management Faculty-led Study Abroad Goes to Germany
This past spring break, six undergrads from the MRKT485 course and two graduate students from MGMT699 ventured to Germany for the first Martin Tuchman School of Management (MTSM) undergraduate faculty-led study-abroad experience. Accompanied by MTSM Senior University Lecturer Melodi Guilbault, they visited both prominent companies and locations of historical and cultural significance, and attended lectures at Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) University, a partner institution of NJIT that helped plan the excursion.
Free Workshops to Teach Startups to Go "Lean"
Entrepreneurs looking to develop their startup businesses are invited to a free Lean Startup Jumpstart Seminar. The introductory training workshop will be held April 10 at Seton Hall, April 17 at Stevens Institute of Technology, May 1 at NJIT and May 8 at New Jersey City University.
NJIT Cited for Its Online Master's in Management Program
OnlineMasters.com, “a trusted source of unbiased college rankings and higher education planning,” has named the graduate management program at NJIT’s Martin Tuchman School of Management a Best Online Master’s in Management Program for 2019. It is ranked No. 18 out of 47 of the best programs identified nationwide, and shares kudos with such respected institutions as Harvard University, New York University and Drexel University.
What's Hot and Cool in Tech? Come Find Out at NJIT's 7th Annual Innovation Day
NJIT Innovation Day, an invention-packed showcase of cutting-edge, student-led research, design and development across programs and disciplines, will take place Monday, April 8, at the Campus Center.
Around 70 student projects – from autonomous lawn care equipment, to lightweight solar arrays for solar vehicles, to a tornado water filtration bottle, to a platform that provides visual feedback on human balance control – will be on display. Broadly, the event will feature inventions that improve lives, novel business ideas, computer games and fundamental scientific research.
School of Management Students Help Local and Foreign Startups
Graduate students from Martin Tuchman School of Management (MTSM), as well as Newark College of Engineering, worked with the CEOs of nine new ventures — seven in the Newark area, one from Manhattan and one from Finland — to help develop and execute their ventures’ go-to-market strategies.
Oya Tukel Appointed Dean of Martin Tuchman School of Management
NJIT announces the appointment of Oya Tukel to dean of Martin Tuchman School of Management, effective July 1, 2019. Tukel received her Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the Middle East Technical University and her doctorate in decision and information sciences from the University of Florida.
Centennial Celebrations: Newark College of Engineering Inducts 11 into its Hall of Fame
A poet, a general and a judge, all engineers by training with diverse, illustrious careers to follow, were among the 11 Newark College of Engineering (NCE) graduates recently inducted into the NCE 100, the alumni hall of fame established this year as part of the College’s celebration of its centennial.
