NJIT’s Newark College of Engineering brought together alumni, students, faculty, staff and industry partners for its 28th Annual Salute to Engineering Excellence, an evening that celebrated the people and partnerships helping shape the college’s future.

Held April 16 at Stone House at Stirling Ridge, the annual event highlighted achievement across the NCE community. Proceeds from the night will support experiential learning and NCE competitive student teams and organizations.

NJIT’s Dana Knox Research Showcase filled the Bloom Wellness and Events Center with student research spanning science, engineering, computing, management and the humanities. With poster presentations, two-minute elevator speeches and Board Day luncheon attendees moving through the event, the showcase offered a cross-disciplinary snapshot of research activity across the university.

High school students from across the region brought engineering concepts off the page and into practice at New Jersey Institute of Technology’s David Good 3D Printed Bridge Competition, where high school teams were challenged to design, assemble and test 3D-printed bridges under real performance criteria.

The Albert Dorman Honors College brought together students, alumni, faculty and staff on April 8 for its second annual Alumni Recognition and Dorman Awards Reception, an evening at NJIT’s Highlander Pub that celebrated achievement across generations of the honors college community.

New Jersey Institute of Technology graduate programs in business and engineering are again represented in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools rankings, with several engineering specialties improving their standing and the Martin Tuchman School of Management earning a set of first-time specialty rankings.

Suhib Al-Hindi is a PhD researcher in high-performance computing at NJIT, under the supervision of Prof. Qing Liu. His research sits at the intersection of HPC and distributed systems, with a focus on data movement, system efficiency, and quality of service. He studies how large-scale systems read, write, and move data. His work includes data reduction and reconstruction methods that improve efficiency while preserving the data quality the user needs.

Akhila Kandivalasa is a PhD student in the ECE department working on observability for dynamic state estimation in power systems. She grew up near a thermal power station and was always fascinated how those "giant machines" operated. During her undergraduate studies, power systems remained one of her favorites.

Sohom Sen is a PhD student from India who discovered the passion for research during a summer internship at NJIT under the guidance and mentorship of Dr. Tao Han and Dr. Durga Misra. That experience clarified that academia and research aligned better with his goals than the corporate path. He was fortunate to receive an offer to pursue his PhD under Dr. Han, and is now based in the UNICS Lab, FMH 414.

Inspiration often sprouts in unexpected places. For electrical engineering students Kermina David '27 and Santiago Garcia '27, the taste of a tropical fruit swiftly ripened into an interest in greenhouses. It then branched into a quest to help farmers manage greenhouse crops more efficiently.

Online education programs at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) rank among the top 100 in the country, according to the U.S. News & World Report. NJIT earned high marks across degree-granting programs in business, engineering and information technology.
