Ever since Jason Ogbebor set foot in a chemistry classroom in high school, he knew he was destined to conduct high-level, impactful research. Looking to science legends — Mendeleev, Bohr, Einstein — Ogbebor is realizing his dreams and is on his way to pursue a Ph.D. at MIT.

New Jersey Institute of Technology served up waves of fanfare as its advanced degree graduates walked across the stage in the Wellness and Events Center in three commencement ceremonies on May 16.

In her second year at New Jersey Institute of Technology, Samantha Augustin made the difficult decision to switch majors.

Biomedical engineering gave way to computer engineering, and now Augustin is poised to pursue a master’s in cybersecurity at New York University. But without the help of an academic advisor “who patiently explained how to do it and helped me transfer and organize my courses,” the major switch could have set her back.

Rakina Islam is finishing her first year in the PhD program in Electrical Engineering at the Helen and John C. Hartmann Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). Her current research focuses on developing Lead (Pb) based Colloidal Quantum Dots (CQDs) for the use in the development of novel electrically pumped lasers. She is currently co-advised by Dr. Leonid Tsybeskov and Dr. Dong-Kyun Ko.

Dr. Teik C. Lim was installed as NJIT’s ninth president in a ceremony that welcomed students, alumni, faculty, staff, elected officials, family and friends to NJIT’s Wellness and Event Center.

NJIT’s Newark College of Engineering (NCE) now ranks No. 77 on the publication’s list of the Best Engineering Schools in the U.S. — up eight notches from last year. It’s the eighth consecutive year that NCE has made the top 100.

NJIT’s largest and oldest college invited students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends to join together for NCE’s 25th Salute to Engineering Excellence celebration. Rami Rashid is a Ph.D. candidate in the Helen and John C. Hartmann Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). He is working under the advisement of Professor Abdi. He also earned his master's from ECE-NJIT in 2020, in which he received the 2020 ECE Top Performers Fellowship.

New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has selected John Pelesko to serve as its next provost and senior vice president for academic affairs after a nationwide search. Pelesko, currently the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Delaware (UD), will start on Aug. 1.
