When Mike Amegashie ’09, owner of Clyver Interview Prep, was invited to attend InnovateNJ’s inaugural “happy hour” for New Jersey entrepreneurs, he jumped at the opportunity to participate.

While Martin Tuchman School of Management ’s faculty, staff and students and their families could not gather traditionally this year for MTSM’s annual awards ceremony, the event, held virtually May 19, still emanated great pride in and affection for the school’s 2020 graduates. Like most other end-of-school-year celebrations worldwide, it was conducted online due to the coronavirus pandemic.

LeShannon Wright was stunned. She had just learned that she placed first in the 2019 New Business Model Competition (NBMC), a contest sponsored by the New Jersey Acceleration Center at NJIT — this after making her first pitch for a business concept she had never talked about publicly before.

NJIT has announced the launch of a new initiative dedicated to the growing professional practice of creative placemaking — a field that places arts and culture at the center of community, social and economic development. 

Saint Barnabas Medical Center (SBMC) in Livingston, N.J., is no stranger to accolades. Among other notable rankings, the acute-care teaching hospital has received 16 A ratings in a row from the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, and is one of less than 41 hospitals in the country to achieve this consistency.

TEDxNJIT aims to bring innovation and remarkable people together to share a TED-like experience in Newark. This year’s event was all about stories of resilience from guest speakers of all different backgrounds, including the following members of Martin Tuchman School of Management (MTSM).

Entrepreneurs looking to develop their startup businesses are invited to a free Lean Startup Jumpstart Seminar. The introductory training workshop will be held April 10 at Seton Hall, April 17 at Stevens Institute of Technology, May 1 at NJIT and May 8 at New Jersey City University.

Two faculty members from NJIT’s Martin Tuchman School of Management (MTSM) — Associate Professor of Finance Michael Ehrlich and Professor of Marketing Rajiv Mehta — have been honored as “professors to know” by BSchools.org, an online resource for individuals interested in pursuing an MBA.

Eighty-two percent of participating businesses reported profitability, while overall they secured $776 million in government, institutional and corporate contracting. These are just two of the noteworthy results* of the Newark Community Economic Development Corporation’s (CEDC) Mini MBA Program.

The Martin Tuchman School of Management (MTSM) finance major is happy to have her exams behind her and the MTSM awards ceremony and NJIT commencement just ahead. Her parents have arrived from India to attend the festivities and with a full-time position awaiting her at IEX, the Investors Exchange, life is good.
