New Jersey Institute of Technology has been named one of Forbes’ America’s Best Employers for New Grads 2026, earning a place among the nation’s top workplaces for early-career professionals. It stands as the only higher education institution in New Jersey included among the state’s recognized employers.
The annual ranking, compiled by Forbes in partnership with market research firm Statista, is based on an independent survey of more than 100,000 young professionals working for companies with at least 1,000 employees in the United States. Respondents, defined as employees with less than 10 years of work experience, evaluated employers across areas such as workplace atmosphere, company image, career growth, compensation, company culture and working conditions.
According to Statista, more than 2,800 companies were evaluated for the 2026 list, with the top 500 employers ultimately recognized. The scoring model considered both direct feedback from employees about their own employers and indirect feedback about other employers within their professional sectors.
For NJIT, the recognition underscores the university’s role not only as a leading public polytechnic research university, but also as a workplace where new graduates and early-career professionals can develop across academic, research, administrative, technology and operations roles. NJIT’s inclusion reflects a work environment connected to professional growth, innovation and the university’s broader mission of preparing talent for New Jersey and beyond.
The ranking also comes amid continued national attention on the transition from college to career. The Forbes’ list arrives as recent graduates enter a labor market shaped by evolving workplace expectations and the growing influence of AI, with employers evaluated on factors including room to grow, work-life balance, AI adoption, benefits and company image.
