The NJIT track and field programs wrapped up their campaigns on the final day of the ECAC/IC4A Outdoor Championships on Sunday evening on the campus of George Mason University. ALL-EAST HONORS

Throughout the year, New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Career Development Services welcomed more than 500 different employers in various partnership capacities. A handful of these industry and community partners, as well as exceptional students, went above and beyond and were awarded in the office’s flagship spring ceremony.

Erick Mejia’s fascinating story is adding another chapter as the Ecuadorian-native is now the first in his family to graduate college. Never forgetting his roots, the digital designer looks for ways to include his love of his home culture and country in his work. “I moved here in 2011, knowing a little bit of English, almost nothing at all. I was missing home every single day, missing Ecuador, and nature,” said Mejia. “Over here, there's not much nature, we have the city, so coming to the city was a big change for me.”

Lisa Easton, assistant vice president of Strategic Budget Planning in NJIT’s finance division, has earned a coveted spot on the 2023-24 National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) Fellows Program.

Nervana Naguib, in a break from planning her summer travel to Egypt and autumn law school enrollment, said her undergraduate experience at NJIT was exactly what she wanted from a college. Naguib grew up in Jersey City, attended McNair Academic High School and joined Martin Tuchman School of Management. She graduates with a B.S. in business, dual concentrations in financial technology and innovation/entrepreneurship, plus a minor in legal studies.

A new collaboration to drive economic and technological advancements in photonics — the branch of science that includes lasers, optical fibers and cutting-edge light-based innovations — has been awarded a development grant from the U.S. National Science Foundation's Regional Innovation Engines, or NSF Engines, program.

A marquee event in NJIT’s annual alumni weekend festivities, the Alumni Achievement Awards ceremony recognizes a select group of alumni for their exceptional accomplishments in any field of endeavor. This year's class includes engineers, designers, innovation and entrepreneurial incubators, green technology financiers and board members. Read more about each of the winners:

NJIT’s College of Science and Liberal Arts (CSLA) celebrated at its annual springtime award ceremony this month, which brought an afternoon of recognition for the college’s star students, faculty, staff and alumni, as well as a special appearance from Nobel Laureate M. Stanley Whittingham.

Volleyball has enabled NJIT’s Mason-William Matos to represent the Dominican Republic, see the world and express himself with joy. As a teenager, he played on Dominican Republic national teams, making him a seasoned setter for the Highlanders when he arrived in 2019. Four years later, the mathematical sciences major from the Class of 2023 is poised to join BNY Mellon in New York as a risk and compliance analyst.
