Whether in healthcare or communication or finance or transportation or any other market sector, all major business enterprises are, at their core, technology companies. Today, every company is a technology company.

Kamalika Sandell, who started earlier this summer as NJIT's chief information officer and vice provost, is settling into her role and looking to make a positive impact. Sandell was previously deputy CIO at American University. She's worked in the information technology field since the 1990s, spent time in the corporate world, earned a master's in organizational development and speaks three languages.

NJIT's new 500-bed apartment-style residence hall, announced early this year for the southwest corner of Warren and Wickliff streets, will emphasize single-occupancy bedrooms and will be constructed with environmentally-friendly methods. The NJIT Department of Athletics will honor the 2019 men's soccer team with a ring ceremony on Wednesday, September 16 on Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium to commemorate the team's ASUN Conference Championship this past November. As students converged on NJIT for the first day of the fall semester, they acknowledged the changes wrought by the COVID-19 pandemic, chief among them, of course, mask-wearing. Nevertheless, they relished the chance to resume classes and reconnect with friends.
