Business school alumnus Tomi Antoljak wants to do for online relationships what NBC's The Voice did for singing competitions. People using his new mobile app, Hangoo, talk first — and then only get to see each other if there's a match. "My belief really is that voice is the more authentic way to communicate," said Antoljak, who in 2019 earned a B.S. in business with a concentration in financial technology from NJIT's Martin Tuchman School of Management. He was also a member of Albert Dorman Honors College.

The NJIT women's tennis team rallied from losing its doubles point to defeat the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 5-2, Friday afternoon at the East Brunswick Racquet Club. As a researcher, NJIT Adjunct Professor Chaudhery Mustansar Hussain is fascinated by COVID-19, having just co-edited three books on the virus and its implications, with two more on the way, distinguishing himself globally as a prolific researcher on the topic. But his interest isn’t just professional. You see, Hussain is also COVID survivor who was hospitalized and connected to a ventilator for 25 days. At one point, his blood oxygen level was 54% (normal is 95-100%). He also lost track of time: when a nurse asked him the date, he was off by a month.

Sophomore guard Lyzi Litwinko combined for her fourth career double-double, netting a personal-best 22 points and 10 rebounds as the Highlanders moved back into the win column with a 58-48 victory over visiting Binghamton in America East Conference women's basketball action inside NJIT's Wellness and Events Center.

The ACM has announced NJIT Distinguished Professor David Bader in its new class of Fellows. Bader received the honor along with 70 peers in the computing industry, representing just 1% of Association for Computing Machinery membership. "The contributions of the 2021 Fellows run the gamut of the computing field — including cloud database systems, deep learning acceleration, high performance computing, robotics, and theoretical computer science," ACM President Gabriele Kotsis stated.
