In an effort for students to share their insights and drive positive change within the NJIT community, Provost and Senior Vice president for Academic Affairs John Pelesko, and Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Marybeth Boger have launched the NJIT Undergraduate Student Advisory Council. 

Andrew Christ, senior vice president for real estate development and capital operations at New Jersey Institute of Technology, has been elected to the National Academy of Construction.

The academy recognizes exceptional leaders from across the construction industry — including construction managers, contractors, designers, educators and financial managers — who advance the industry through innovation and lasting improvements.

David E. Jones is just a few months into his role as chief diversity officer at New Jersey Institute of Technology yet already has a visible presence.

NJIT’s Albert Dorman Honors College held its First-Year Seminar Biodiversity Initiatives colloquium, in which four student-led proposals were presented to renovate the space near the Summit Street parking garage. 

These student-driven initiatives allow for the Urban Ecology Lab, ADHC, the Real Estate Development and Capital Operations (REDCO) and the Office of Sustainability to team up together to make NJIT’s campus into a more sustainable community.

At a busy, waterfront innovation festival filled with tech companies, startups, entrepreneurs and more, the NJIT Esports club had some of the biggest draws of the day.

The Propelify Innovation Festival, dubbed the “SXSW of the northeast,” brought together thousands of tech-enthusiasts to Hoboken’s Maxwell Place Park for a day of mixing, mingling, and — for the NJIT esports club — light gaming.

Maple Hall, the new apartment-style residential building at New Jersey Institute of Technology, officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony September 29.

New Jersey Institute of Technology students arrived on campus en masse today, with a record 1,600 new students leading the way, plus thousands more sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students excited to start a new semester fully in-person for the first time since fall 2020.

NJIT’s student newspaper, The Vector, continues making its journalistic voice heard — the paper is the recipient of several awards from U.S. college media contests recently.

The Vector was named the Corbin Gwaltney Award winner for “Best All-Around Student Newspaper” (among large universities) at the Society of Professional Journalists Region 1 Mark of Excellence Awards, beating out competition from the likes of Hofstra University and Boston College. 

NJIT has landed some unexpected residents recently, and they’ll be getting plenty of “airtime” as they settle into their new home. In fact, they’ll have their own channel where you can check them (and their new crib) out, 24/7. 

Two red-tailed hawks (Buteo jamaicensis) have begun a rare urban nest on a sixth-story ledge of the campus’s Albert Dorman Honors College (ADHC) Residence Hall on Colden Street. 

A gleaming white concrete beam was signed by well-wishers and lifted by crane to the roof of a new residence hall going up at New Jersey Institute of Technology to mark a milestone in a project that began with administrative conversations three years ago and will end this fall with the opening of Maple Hall.

The eight-story, U-shaped building will have 176 apartment-style units for one or two students and feature amenities such as full kitchens, a convenience store, grass courtyard, fire pit and group rooms for studying and gaming.
